Just when I was about to ask for some Lakland “P” bass content… very cool.

I’m really wanting to add a 44-64 to the toolbox. Yes I know you can get close with a Jazz (and I really like my 44-60 Skyline custom) but it’s not the same. Due to the pots and wiring, the sound isn’t the same a genuine simple p-bass circuit ( no I don’t want an added bridge pickup on it) as many have pointed out, nor is the handling and non-asymmetrical body… and I want that sound for certain things. That and I’ve never owned a P variant before. And the intend is to have flat wounds on it.

I hope one day they will bringback the Skyline 44-64 vintage non-custom PJ as a standard production model. I am not a fan of the PJ nor the block inlays.....I just want a basic P-bass in the skyline range!!!!

I love all my Lakland basses, but definitely want this one in a skyline.

The model was originally supposed to be vintage leaning (thus the 64) but the Skyline is not even kind of traditional specs anymore. Neck width, fretboard radius, electronics. But I suppose they make what sells.

I'm thinking about hiring an ace luthier to file down my 44-64 neck to match the Hollowbody.

Did it! And very happy. Local luthier Peter Robson invited me over to his shop and carefully worked to match the profile on my Hobo. It was a little unnerving, but we took our time, and 3.5 hours later I walked out with a perfect-feeling neck on the 44-64.

This beauty has inspired me to try a bound and blocked 55-60 neck on my gold J-sonic. Pics will come when complete.

55-94 for $3k hanging out on GC used. Says in good condition, which means there is probably some minor wear on it.

Still a good deal on a 55-94 considering what they go for new. And if you don't like it just return to your local GC in 45 days and just be out the cost of shipping.

Albeit not a Lākland, I recently checked out a used bass at a GC while I was traveling for work. GC has it listed as “great” and I’d say it’s “fair” at best. Their rating is fairly subjective, but I’d say dings on the body and headstock would definitely drop it below “great” regardless of who’s rating it.

I bought a used Aguilar DB750 from them online, said it was in great condition, they emailed me at the end of the day and said they couldn’t find it, next day one of the managers calls and says it’s out getting fan repairs done (I am still going to give it a shot as a db750 for under $1500 total is a pretty good deal imho, and i can always return it), but their conditions seem to be pretty open to interpretation.

Three grand for a used 5594 seems a bit high. These can usually be had for $2500 or less. Heck, there's one for sale locally for under $2300

Have you seen what they sell as new? Lol. Some of their new basses are in worse shape than basses I have that are 25 years old that I gigged with. I’m done though, they do have a good return policy and having a buddy who works there does help out on some stuff I want.

Jade, your 2x ex has resurfaced, unceremoniously appearing in the GC window. The last owner provided a few small dings and fret dress. Appears the Aguilar pups are present since it has the Formvar wire. Whatever 125 B it has is flabby and doesn't cut it. I have a new set of EB cobalt flats to try on her. The case and former items are present except for that lovely green pickguard. Heard back from the owner who sold it to GC (there was a work order with their contact info in the case) and they bought it without the guard so that appears lost. The US Laklands are the only 5 neck my aging hands can still tolerate so when the 45 day return window nears I'll know if she stays or goes.

Ya know, this would really kill with a Nordstrand P pup.

The black one was on it when it left TB the final time in 2018. I like it better as well but wish the unique original one was still with it. She's certainly been around the block, last owner said they bought it from Tone Shop Guitars in Dallas.
