Yes, I own one. As well as two USA’s and an early 55-01.
OK Lakland curators, I have something that has been bugging me for a few days now. Last week I met a nice gentleman who sold me a non-Lakland wishlist bass (gasp). And during that transaction he had a white USA Lakland case in his SUV. Kiddingly I asked what he has in the box there. At which time he was courteous enough to open it to show me. Well damned if it wasn't one of the most beautiful instruments I had ever seen. Seriously. It was a P bodied 5 string, w/ PJ pickups and a bound and blocked rosewood fingerboard, all in candy apple red (as far as I could tell). It all just glowed. On top of that, whatever model it was, it had serial number 001, wood stamped into teh side of the head stock, not printed on. I think there were three letters preceeding the "001" as well, so XXX 001" So what's been bugging me is what model was that? A customized 55-64? ( think he said it might be a 55-64 but that want past me too fast and I didn't retain that. I cannot find any USA model images that look like this one. Thoughts on what that is?
It could be a customized 5564.
Not sure about the 001 serial number though....

I don't as it was pretty quick and after reading @MattLplaysBass post I must be misremembering the format a bit.
Not 100% sure but that is as close as I have come so far. Thank you.
I do think that the first BG/5564 was candy apple red so this very well could be that bass

Agreed, and that previous listed price looks like a steal! I don't think my guy will ever part with it but I am going to put my hat in the ring just in case...

Tweaked my second owner LOG 55-64 by swapping out the black pg for a red tort I had lying around. I have never been a huge fan of black with rosewood, plus tort?! How can you do wrong?

After looking around for a used Joe Osborne USA model, one popped up on Guitar Center a few weeks back. 2008 model from the serial # and it's looks like a total closet classic without much wear and no real dings to speak of. Love the stacked knobs and the tone with fairly dead flats is fantastic.

Well gang, I've received my custom 55-94 and it's every bit as awesome as I hoped it would be!
I have a question for ya'll about Howard's Feed 'n Wax and their Orange Oil.
Do you know if the instruments come from the factory with any of these products applied?
How often should I apply them?
I generally clean my other instruments with Music Nomad products 1 or 2 times per year depending on play. But my Lakland is the first "unfinished" neck I've owned and want to ensure I take care of it properly.
