Played this last night at the Christmas Eve service.... It sounded GREAT....( Yes it has flats on it .
...and I'm NOT a flats guy!)
I had the typical amount of wrong notes ... Usually on the hymns...those changes sometimes change very quickly and numerous ( my excuse!
)
Liking this as a fretted instrument but
it as a fretless!
Need to get Carl to put the fretless neck back on it!!!

I posted about this the other day but pulled my comment because I decided to buy it myself but after considering it I really don't need yet another precision. Especially when I am using the -94/-02 basses all the time now. So here it is.....a USA D.Lakin. I dug into it and got a lot of information about this which involved a bunch of emails because frankly there is zero info about them out there. There were only 2-3 USA D.Lakin's made (the original headstock version that is). Dan said 2, Kevin said 4, and the serial number on this one is 003. So who knows. Not many of them though. Kevin Caton made some prototypes for Dan when starting D.Lakin and at some point and then at some point built these. No one really remembers but it sounds like the body and electronics are Korean but the neck was made at NC Solutions (the company that made all of the necks and bodies for Lakland before they moved inhouse) and it was built and finished by Kevin. Its essentially the same neck as a USA Lakland Glaub. Birdseye maple fretboard, graphite reinforcement, quartersawn, oil finish, etc. All of the hardware on all D.Lakin basses were USA Hipshot. So its pretty much a USA Lakland at $899. Seems like an amazing deal for someone that needs a precision bass. Honestly the Korean ones are worth every penny of $899.

Looking at the back of the headstock, it looks like it might be a quartersawn neck too. Someone please buy this…
It's for sure quartersawn. It's such a good deal that I legit almost bought something I completely don't need 
I just bought a Neopunch P bass pickup for a project PJ....I'm looking for a J pickup to match it. I understand this pickup is higher output, so any J would have to be pretty hot. I've also read that the stock J that comes in the Neopunch PJ set isn't very well matched, in terms of volume.
Any suggestions? My first thought was the Duncan SJB-2 or perhaps the Hot Stack for noise canceling...if they are even loud enough.

Noise canceling could be a little bit of an issue with that pickup.
It turns out Carl actually designed the neo Punch.
I did not know that until I built my double P.
Both of my Lakland PJs have the vintage pickups in them.

Lookin' good! How's that AG head treating you in this setup? I have the same rig but with a TH and am not really vibing with it with my 55-94. Hoping an AG500/700 has more full sound.

Agreed, same here! I feel sorry for the person who sold it to Guitar Center... Didn't get more than $500 for it.It's for sure quartersawn. It's such a good deal that I legit almost bought something I completely don't need
I have them both and honestly I can go either way. The AG definitely sounds cleaner/more modern and has a more normal EQ section. Not sure what you don't like about the TH but I usually keep the gain and drive knobs all the way down on the to get it as clean as possible. They both sound great to me actually. Probably my favorite setup is the AG with a pair of DB112's but the SL's are definitely no slouch either.
Lakland would do a replacement if it was a quality issue.... And with the same preamp.
They wouldn't do another preamp

I don't know a lot about preamps because I literally just this year got into the active game. I probably won't experiment much because I like what Lakland has in there (both the bartolini and the LH3)

If it is not broken, they won't. There was someone on the Facebook group that didn't like their Carlo with the Bartolini preamp, maybe you two could swap.
