a 2015 so a much older sibling... Has not original, but equivalent Lakland model Bart pickups and about to get a companion freshly minted Bart HR-5.2AP/918FL Preamp system which, from what I can find, is the recommended replacement model for the no longer available original Lakland Bart preamp.

Had our first outdoor gig of the season last night. I opened up my case and was amazed at how the almost thirty year sunburst finish just popped in the sunlight. Sorry for the smudgees as guess

I forgot to wipe it down before leaving home. It’s not perfect and new but that’s what I love about it. What a beauty!

Yea, Ive played with them all. I find the 500 hz to be adequate. The thing is, even fully dimed the effect is not aggresive. i find the whole bart pre to be useful but on the tame side. And oh, how a passive tone would be great to have.

I plan to have an NTMB FL with a toggle switch for 250 400 and 600hz with a passive/active tone control

Looking over the first 5 to 10 pages of the Talk Bass Classifides, I’ve noticed that finding Lakland Bass ( especially 55-94’s, 55-14’s or 55-02’s)is kind of a rare occasion. Based on this observation, I’d have to say that a whole lot of TB member players hold on to them. I can’t say the same thing for other well known brands. This is purely anecdotal evidence mind you.

On the other hand, there was a brand new gold US 55-60 and a very nice skyline 55-60 deluxe for sale in the classifieds just recently. They didn’t last long at all. So I’d say if and when they do show up they don’t last long. TB members recognize just how special they are. I thought hard about that gold one for sure. I just don’t want to cheat on my 55-94 for a while.

Has anyone ever noticed that there are far fewer used Rosewood/Ebony fretted Laklands than Maple. I guess players really hang on to them .

Also... Rosewood and Ebony are just harder to obtain than in the past.... So probably less being made

Recently snagged this Skyline Darryl Jones 5 in search of something different from the familiar Ibanez SR 5-string experience.

Beefy neck, beefy & well-positioned (noiseless) single coils, smooth-to-growly tones, sick body contour, & perfect balance?? Cmon. And the string spacing is ideal for a doubler like me; my main is my MIK 55-04, and this feels like an absolutely perfectly matched partner.

It was a freshly-arrived used find at an area GC, shockingly good price thanks to two dings invisible to the audience. I’LL TAKE IT.

Great find! Yes, the DJs are a great and unique design on the jazz bass platform. I used to own a DJ5 in their sparkle black when they offered that color. It had the Aero pickups that were stock at the time and the tone was superb. Unfortunately, it weighed like 11.5 lbs and I was playing 3 to 4 hours gigs with little to no breaks so it took its toll. But the over all body and neck specs were very comfortable. Congrats! Play the heck out of that thing.
