Cheers guys! Pretty much the only things I asked to be different was the contoured body, and a two tone burst instead of three. Only owned a skyline up until now.. The craftsmanship just blows my mind! Easily the best neck I've ever laid my hands on (1.625" ).
Yeah single coil, so it's kind of half way between 44-51 and 44-51M. Ordered it 08/05 and it got sent out of their shop on 02/25, so just under 7 months (which I was stoked with).
Congrats! That's exactly how I felt when I tried a US Lakland for the first time, now I have two.

A 44-51 is the frontrunner for my next Lakland. I'd go for contours too but am vacillating between a neopunch split P and the single coil. I don't have a P right now so am leaning towards the split. And my Decade has plenty of sc goodness. Idk I'll probably go back and forth a few hundred times before I order one. I'm not a fan of bursts but that two tone looks awesome.
I already have a split-P Glaub/Dunn (1.625" nut with blocks and no binding) and a single-coil one (Dunn with Dark Star). But I still want the different flavor of the "traditional" single-coil P pickup. I dig the two-tone finish on the '51 style as well, but I think a lot of colors look good on that! 'Twill be a tough decision when the time comes. But what a nice problem to have.
Congrats! That finish really works well with the vintage vibe of the bass. Beautiful!

So I picked up my "new to me" bass today! was well worth the long drive to meet Leo and his son Leo Junior! Leo even bought me dinner at Pottbellies Sandwiches!
I cannot get any good pics because it is late and dark...not sure when I will get pics due to my busy work schedule BUT here are some details:
US 5560
Olympic White
matching headstock
LH3 pre-amp
Single coil -Fralins
no pickguard
rear access panel
Ebony fretboard
no face dots (but has side dots)
light weight body
This bass was built for Leo about a year ago and he never really played it...so it is in "like new" condition. There is not a blem on the bass.
The bass itself is a really nice creamy oly white....I was expecting a bit more "white" but this has a really nice aged look to it....for some of you older LOG members, you might remember JJ's "banana cream" colored JO....this is just as nice hue-wise.
The LH3 and Fralins sound GREAT! I spend a lot of time just fooling around with the knobs....there is much variability (as those of you who have an LH3 equipped bass know!).
It is currently strung with Lakland light gage nickels which I have never played....they have a great sound and there is plenty of "zing" if I want it...the "zing" can be toned down with the treble and mid range knobs....the beautiful ebony freeboard (one of the darkest I have seen) gives the bass an interesting "edgy" sound....and the neck is as comfortable as the rest of my Lakie necks!
This bass is extremely unique (yes it is "kinda like" an AJ55.....but not quite)....and I am very proud to be her new owner!
I cannot wait to play here this upcoming week.....
Now for a name.....suggestions are welcome.
I guess this is "this year's bonus" quite a bit early....now I just have to work hard so I "deserve" it....
