Awesome!

In no relation to this bass or its owners excitement about the build, why can Lakland not make a control cavity on a P-bass that's not all wonky looking? It can't be that difficult. My 44-64 cavity looked just like that and it was frustrating to try and do any work in.

It's an actual DS. It kinda used to be mine :bassist:

Now would be a good time to point out that Minneapolis will be home to Matt's shell pink SS glaub with a darkstar, and my full scale shell pink JO with darkstars...if Minneapolis suddenly disappears it'll probably be because the universe located too much awesome in one place and created a black hole.

Whoa. SS Glaub with Darkstar?!!? That sounds more than a little awesome. Was that formerly your Sonic Blue Glaub body? I love that JO of yours. If no-one has dibs on that I'm calling it now.

I'm hoping it's more than a little awesome. It's actually a new build. I had the pickup lying around and had been trying to figure out what to do with it. So, after a few emails with Leo, I decided:

Shell Pink 44-64 w/ Matching HS
Mahogany Body
Shortscale, Jazz Taper Neck
Rosewood Fretboard
Darkstar Pickup

It should be done any day now, so... I'm pretty anxious. Giddy is a more accurate description.

I actually sold Lee that (now Sonic Blue) Glaub a while back. I regret it almost daily, but it went to a good home and I can visit it every once in a while.

FINALLY WAS ABLE TO TAKE A FEW SHOTS!

It is extremely difficult to capture the color of this bass in photos....I took many Pictures just to get the color "close"....it does not help that I was at the office during the "best" sun of the day (but hey...it is beautiful out 31!!! Yahoo! and I will take it).

Had this bass at practice...got some compliments on its sound...still trying to "tweak it" with the rest of the band....it can get lost at times if I keep it in the mid to high range....but when I increase the mids and bass a bit (to bring it back into the mix) it sometimes gets "muddy" between the guitarist's low notes and the band leader's left hand (yup....he plays keys)....still working it out.

Very comfy bass and it does sound GREAT ....just need to get the right setting for the rest of the "sound interference" the non-bass playing band throws in!!!

One thing that is weird is the angle of the knobs...."middle" is at about 45 degrees facing down...hmm.....not sure WHY Leo did it that way....

I will have to have Carl re-situate the pots so 12 o'clock or 9 o'clock is middle....easy fix!

Thanks for the update. That's going to be killer. Same wood combo as my shorty Decade. I didn't realize Lakland would build a bass with an out of house pick up. I thought there was a time when Darkstars stopped being available when they would not. I've already mind built four new basses.
