I was fortunate enough to pick this one up used from TBer Chris Merrill. I had been emailing him, trying to figure out what it might take to duplicate what he called his "Death Star." I was shocked when he offered to let her go to me.
If I remember the story correctly, this was put together when Chris was working at Lakland. Apparently there was a sunburst skyline body with a finish imperfection that had been sitting around for a while. Next thing you know it's sporting dual darkstars, the input jack is relocated to the front replacing the unused coil tap switch, and the old jack disappears without a trace. Chris lovingly wired this himself, the body was mated to a US jazz neck with reverse hipshot vintage style tuners, and of course the black paint with matching headstock. She's currently strung with Pyramid gold flats, but she came to me strung with D'Addario black nylon tapes for the full on Death Star effect
