I was fortunate enough to pick this one up used from TBer Chris Merrill. I had been emailing him, trying to figure out what it might take to duplicate what he called his "Death Star." I was shocked when he offered to let her go to me.

If I remember the story correctly, this was put together when Chris was working at Lakland. Apparently there was a sunburst skyline body with a finish imperfection that had been sitting around for a while. Next thing you know it's sporting dual darkstars, the input jack is relocated to the front replacing the unused coil tap switch, and the old jack disappears without a trace. Chris lovingly wired this himself, the body was mated to a US jazz neck with reverse hipshot vintage style tuners, and of course the black paint with matching headstock. She's currently strung with Pyramid gold flats, but she came to me strung with D'Addario black nylon tapes for the full on Death Star effect :cool:

I'll apologize in advance if I'm not in the right place for posting this. Just wanted to say I am totally impressed with Lakland's customer service.

I just a MIK 5501 here on TB last week. It ended up a couple bridge height adjustment screws had stripped heads. No big deal. But, I wanted to fix that. Called Brian @ Lakland. He dug around, found me what I needed and is sending the parts out to me for a very reasonable fee.

This is my first Lakland bass.
With service like that, it won't be my last ...

Awesome shot! I'm going to get my hands on a 55-94 at some point in my life, hopefully I won't have to buy one to see whether or not I like the tones (I know I'll love the feel)...

Good grief Charlie Brown, that is the hotness! I'm a fan of that matching black headstock, especially the 4-inline format!

Unfortunately, due to recent family medical bills, I've started considering trading her down to free up some funds :hmm: I don't want to... but I might...

Lakland CS is some of the BEST! That is part of the reason I only play them now....that and the feel, sound, etc. :D

sorry to hear that you might need to part with the bass....but IF you do, I am SURE someone will buy it fast....

when you say "medium scale P"...what length are you talking?

Lakland may be able to fit a shorty neck to a Skyline or US P bass body....maybe...
