Cool! I wonder how attractive a cover will be once it's reshaped to accommodate the Lakland bridge. We bassists tend to like our traditional shapes.

This is what I was thinking. The back of the cover utilizes the lip on the back of the bridge and allows string change, the over shape of the bridge and logo carry over to pressed shapes in the cover

Hi All
Well I'm back to the Lakland fold. I just bought a slightly used 44-14 yesterday and should have it sometime in a few days or earlier next week hopefully. Over the years I've owned quite a few Lakies and really liked them all, but like many of us have since tried a lot of different instruments. I'm talking way back towards the early days of Lakland. I've been to the shop numerous times and loved hanging out. Especially with Carl. All the guys were great.
(my question is in this paragraph) Of the several 4-94's and a 55-94 I owned I always like the the Bartolini electronics and pups. I've been reading and doing searches a lot and find that there are quite a few Lakland owners that are not that happy with the Lakland/Hanson preamp and or pups, at least compared to the Bartolini, Fralins, etc. I've had both Barts and Fralins in my Laklands and thought they were really good. Before anybody recommends the Chisonics to me, I've never heard them but honestly I don't like the looks, which is a secondary element. I know I like the Barts for sure.
I have been craving a bass that has an Alder Body and Rosewood fingerboard. I have always loved the Lakland neck profiles. Currently I have a NYC Sadowsky UVJ4 Ash/Maple with single coils and its a fine instrument. Recently I've acquired a Baer ML112 and have three amps. GK MB Fusion 800, Ag TH500, and Markbass F-1, just for reference purposes.
Anyway I'm just looking for some feed back or comparison of the Lakland/Hanson vs. the Bartolini while I'm sitting here waiting for my bass. Thanks in advance if you care to reply. Like I said I'm just totally warn out trying to research it.

I did not know that! That is very good to know if I'm not satisfied with the electronics that the 44-14 come with. I'm also craving a pick guard. I never owned the Classic and I basically have one now. Hmm.

This is nice. The slot for the lip and having the logo pressed would likely increase the cost. It may be better to have the have a stamped recess as opposes to the slot and the laser or acid etch the logo.
Machining would be way too expensive. Stamping would be more cost effective.

Thanks! The slot is needed to hold the back of the cover on though. the lip goes through the slot. Laser or acid etched would be OK, but wouldn't look old school. But if it too costly, it's too costly.
Would match the neck covers too.
Understood, but as opposed to the slot, a recess could be stamped to go under the lip of the bridge to ensure alignment and that there is proper shouldering. Either way, get me dimensions and a drawing in solidworks or pro-e and I can get bids for all of the scenarios; slotted, recessed, stamped letters, etched, chrome, nickel, black, pink, whatever...
I sent to John to see if he is interested. If not...can't have the Lakland logo. I just did this in Illustrator. Don't do Solidworks or Pro-E:-/
I can probably have it drawn by the guys in engineering when I get back to the office next week. I'll take measurements and go from there. If John is not interested maybe we can do it as a LOG thing or come up with a super secret club logo...

That looks cool, but Lakland's proprietary bridge is such a signature piece of what they're about. I wouldn't want to cover it up.
