BG02 arrived last weekend. The straightest neck with the lowest action of any bass I have ever owned, including US Lakies. Perfect angle with barely any relief. I didn't need another bass either but I'm really glad I bought this one. And check out that board!
Man, I've been so absent here lately. We've been going through some major job changes and my fiance and I got jobs in San Jose. Sad to leave the great city of Chicago (and being an hour away from Carl/Lakland) but it will be an amazing change of pace.
Anyways...big bass developments! Went to see Carl and the neck is done for the parted out, loaded Lakland body I bought! Wonderful Rosewood fretboard, Birdseye maple dots, and a fantastic flamey quartersawn neck. Looks amazing in person! Sure looks that way! Also well I was there I had Carl set up the Carribean burst bass and my Rob Allen Fretless Deep Mouse. Carl never ceases to amaze me. He gave it the TLC it rneeded. I replaced my beloved 7 year old strings when I bought the bass new.
He preceded to tell me the story about when he was working on Joe Osborn's jazz bass and he went to replace the 3 crappy looking blue-wrapped bass strings and the 1 pink-wrapped bass string. Joe screamed "Nooo" from across the room as Carl went for his wire snips. I totally could identify. He took care of the fret sprout on the Carribean bass and the raised maple lines on my fretless. They look better than new!View attachment 572732
Looks great!!
Looks great!!
Guys, need help sourcing some quality pick guard material. I am looking for a 3-ply cream color material. I want to take a stab at making my own guard. any ideas of where to buy some sheets. I need to make 2 guards
Thanks! I was so unsure of the white pearl finish that I had the bass up for sale. It's a bit of a chameleon color and sometimes clashed with the original white guard depending on the lighting condition. IMO, the chameleon aspect is an advantage now because the finish plays off the tort no matter what the lighting is like. It can look gold, silver, white, cream, etc.
Still waiting for my new Lakland.. It hurts!!![]()
