Trying to keep it a surprise until I have pics but i'll just say it's one of the new 2015 skylines!
I'll be doing some cosmetic mods to it too which i'm excited about.
The bass left Lakland on 27 Feb for Bass Central in Florida. I don't think they've received it yet but when they do, they'll ship it straight to me in New Zealand.
my new bass is a Skyline so no build time. just have to preorder and wait.
they made 20 of each new model in the first run so i'll have one of 20.
But if you're curious, my USA Lakland I got in 2011 took 8 months to build, although they originally quoted 6 months.

I've been thinking about adding a J pickup to my US BG4. I want to add a Nordstrand Big Split, but I'm worried that it will limit me in the future. If I decide I want to swap pickups later, I'm limited on selections because it's not a standard J route. Should I play it safe and just do a normal jazz pup route, or trust what I like now to be the same that I'll like in the future?
I've been hot and cold on P/Js for years. I'm currently hot on them.
So this is just the common sense thing to do, then go from there if you're a bit crazy, like me.
Don't mess with P goodness.
If you want a J bass with Big Splits, get one, or upgrade one. So then you'll have two good basses.
If you've got a good Jazz and a good P, then you can play with something to get a P/J, but I would not "chase your tail" in trying to improve on a great P bass, thinking it can be a greater P/J.
By the way, big splits are great pickups. So you're on the right track.

FWIW ... I blame you, Holdsg ... for my Lakland addiction. Bought my first Lakland (44-01 + Chis) from you.
I do have a 44-60, and 2 44-64s. So I'm thinking about converting one of the 44-64s. I totally agree though. I don't want to mess with a P bass. I kind of want to keep one with rounds, and one with flats, and then get a 3rd as a PJ ... but some guy at Chase bank keeps telling me that I "don't have enough money" for that. Pshhh.... what does he know?

for those with 4 string laklands, do you guys use regular long scale strings to go through body? or do you need extra long? i imagine regular long scales would be fine but just want to be sure.
Standard length has worked through body, but since I use DR's almost exclusively, I never have any problems with length
