Lakland Owners Group #69

Good to be prudent, especially with gear purchases, look who's talking :roflmao:

But, if possible I would try and bring in or play through a similar amp set up that you will be using it with on your next visit. That may eliminate or confirm any hesitations you had this time around.

Just ordered my first ever Skyline! I had a 55-94 USA years ago which I had to sell and I am slowly rebuilding my stable. I have been wanting a P bass for months as there is something about that classic tone and look that works for me. However, I could never find in a stock Fender all the features I want-upgraded P pickup, additional J pickup, 1.5 nut and J-bass neck profile. Then I happened to mosey over to lakland.com and say the new 44-64 custom. I was hooked!!! All the above features plus a bound neck and MOP inlays which I love. I pulled the trigger that same day over at Sweetwater. I won't get it for a couple of weeks as they are on back order but I'll be sure to post some pics. I have played a BG PJ at Namm a couple of years ago and I know the tone will be similar to that, and therefore, awesome. I will look exactly like this as they have only released this model in black. Now if I could only get a gold anodized pickgaurd for it...

I love my Skyline PJ too.
I have US hipshots and a d-tuner installed.
Strung with La Bella flatwounds.
Did the setup to my taste and it plays beautifully!
I normally just use it as a P but the J is useful for when you need that extra sparkle.

I noticed the 2nd batch of PJ's have matching black headstocks though. I think it might've been a mistake in the Skyline factory but looks good either way.

Nice choice! LOVE the look!

My US 44-64 from 2006. Every bit as nice as my 59 P. Stunning instruments.

That's a beauty!

I found a beautiful piece of spalted flames Maple and could not resist giving the 55-01 a knob makeover. The Bubinga/wenge was nice, but these kill.

I would like to add the D-tuner as well. I too intend to use it as a P bass, as that is really my sound, but I love having the J pickup there to blend in when I need to cut. I wish mine came with matching headstock, but I am not planning on it. What is the difference with the US Hipshots?

Check this out! Sweetwater is shipping out my Lakland hybrid P today, and much to my delighted surprised, they took some pics of it before they shipped and it has matching headstock. I am over the moon about it. Can't wait!
