OK guys, I need some input here. I just picked up a 55-64 and I'm toying with the idea of tossing some flatwounds on her. Any suggestions?
I have flats on my 55-64 and TI flats on my 55-94. I'm thinking of putting nickel roundwounds on the 55-94 and the TI flats on the 55-64. IMHO, you can't do better than the TI flats if you want to keep a bit of the high end.

Well do you want flats that sound like flats or do you want flats that sound "modern and bright" without "zing" and rough feel?

If it's the former, DR legends are the flatiest flats I know.

If it's the latter, Ernie Ball Cobalts are darn near as bright as nickel rounds, and feel quite slinky.

But the Sadowsky flats are the bomb too

Thanks for the input, guys. I'm definitely looking for flats that sound like flats. I'm going to be using this bass primarily with my reggae band. I've got my 55-60 Custom and my 55-02 for my funk/soul band. I usually use DR Lo-Riders on those basses, with the occasional set of Hi-Beams...

I will say that I never thought of myself as a P-bass guy until after last night's gig. I ended up playing it the entire night with whatever old, beat up strings were already on it and it CRUSHED! Very happy I pulled the trigger on this one!

And yes, Doug, I know the rules :) I'll see if I can get a decent pic of all 3 basses at some point today. I'm not sure if I've ever posted any pictures of any of the Laklands I've had since I converted about 3 years ago, other than my profile pic... I'm a little bit of a slacker in that regard :)
