I've had my 55-02 for three years now. It has played every gig with me since then and has never once let me down. I think it is one of the best instruments for a guy like me in a cover band, it covers SO MUCH ground tonally. I've had a couple of my friends pick them up now as well.
Been wondering, does Lakland make a Skyline 4 string P or P/J with a 1.65" nut. Not interested in a Jazz width and don't want to go to a 1.75" either. I've looked over the specs and I dont think they do, but I might be overlooking something.

Just ran into Packer fan here in Sacramento this morning....walked into my contact's office and there was a Packer clock...I said "I think we are going to get along"....pointing to the clock....he just smiled. we are getting along well...

have you tried (what used to be) the Markus Miller sets? I really like them and they seem to have a good amount of zing...but not overly so. I am not sure what they are called now.
Sorry nope...BUT you can do a neck swap....i think it may take some pocket work...but for you it may be worth it.
Marcus used to endorse the DR Fat Beams, but now he has a Dunlop custom Super Bright set.

Just to follow up on this--yes, they make their own pickups except for the -01 models, which use Bart MK-1s. They switched over in the 2006-08 period, first on the 02/94 models, then the J basses, and finally the P basses.
They can also be bought separately, and Lakland offers a few variations; Hanson is the maiden name of the mother of the Pirrucellos (I may have misspelled that), who run Lakland: Welcome to Hanson Pickups!
Lakland was here at Sweetwater yesterday and John Pirruccello told us about a couple "new" models...
4 and 5 strings J-Sonic Basses. They're essentially the 44-60/55-60 J-style basses with Chi-Sonic pickups in the Jazz bass position, AKA the bass I've been rock'n since 2011...
One color for now, in Shoreline Gold, Rosewood Fingerboard. Looks awesome!
Also the 44-64Custom PJ bass now will come in White as well...

Ahh, so these are actually Bart pickups? Which ones do you think sound better? I have never heard of Chi-Sonic pickups before.
Only the 44-01 and 55-01 models have Barts. I've never really tried one of those through an amp myself.
The Chi-Sonics are Lakland's version of Dark Star pickups, which they developed when the builder of the latter slowed down (and eventually stopped) production. The single-coil Chi-Sonics are (to my ears) thicker/fatter, yet with more aggressive mids, than regular J pickups. Sound clips are here: Invalid Link Removed
The bass on that link looks like passive pickups? Or are the Chi-Sonic active passive?
