Lakland Owners Group #69

Pro Player Lakland sighting:

Went to the High Elevation Rock Festival with my fiancé and her daughter and friend this past weekend and was pleased to see the first act, Shaman's Harvest was being held down by a Lakland Player. 44-01 most of the set, one song with a 55-01. Had an Ampeg 8x10 on stage, but didn't immediately see the head that was driving it. Overall a great sound... not entirely my cup of whisky, but I can see me listening to it in the right mood!



For the record- No Fenders, no Gibsons. The rest of the bands rocked Shecters, Spectors or (1) EBMM Stingray. oh and Chevelle Rocked his 35" Ibanez BTB 35" 4 stringers... honestly he had the best sound of the day... but I like Chevelle, so I may have been biased... but... They're from Chicago!! Come one guys, endorse the home town fellas! ;-)

I made a thumbrest for a friends Lakland from Flamed Maple with birdseye in it...I wound up making three before I found one with the least amount of flaws in my eye. All of these are made to use double sided tape or glue dots for adhesion. The two that appear to have screws are only sporting the head of the screw. I cut the heads and polished them before gluing them into place. The bore for the screws does not go all the way through the body.

This is the one that he wound up getting.



This is one of the others that didn't make the cut, I put on my Jazz bass...


This is one that I plugged the holes with Padauk to match the mini-ramp and Maple/Redheart knobs on my 55-02D.

I like a full ramp between the pickups. On my first Brase I tried just a thumb rest and it drove me even more nuts than I usually am. LOVE my 55-94.

Picked this up a couple of weeks ago 2003 Skyline JO, finally got a chance over the weekend to personalize to my liking's:

US orange oil treatment to the neck
USA Hipshot Lollipop tuners
Concentric stacked control plate(replaced the Audere pre)
DR Pure Blues
going to add the pickup cover as well

absolutely love this bass, plays like a dream and the passive setup really brought out the Lindy's to my ears.

Nice Lollipops. I switched out to standard 1/2 USA Clovers, but thought long and hard about lollipops

Does anyone have a spare/used set of Hollowbody Chisonic pickups? I took mine out of my HB (the big one, not the medium scale one) and sent them to a pickup winder friend to have them rewound... and it's taking months. I want to start playing my HB again, but need some pickups to put in there in the meantime and don't wan to buy brand new ones. Just checking :)

Hey guy's, anyone had any trouble with Lakland and dealers being able to keep up the demand for certain Skyline models? I have been on the waiting list at Sweetwater and also checking BCC almost daily for 44-01's in the spalted/RW combo or even a burst/RW combo. Well, according to Sweetwater they were supposed to get several in a couple weeks ago, but only received 1 55-01 (they were supposed to receive several others) in the spalted/RW combo and the 44-01's were pushed back to an October arrival.

Anyone heard any news?

I did notice their stock of Laklands was pretty low. I actually wanted a maple fretboard 55-02, but I like the spalted top :)

I was also interested in a spalted 44-01 and was told the same. I ended up getting a natural ash model. Love it! Glad I didn't hold my breath for the spalted.

It's great. Really articulate, frankly stellar for an imported bass $1500. My only issue is that 5th string, I'm trying to get used to it,and with time I probably will, but I would be more comfortable on a 4. I just got a Tonehammer 350 today and can't wait to try it with that (my main is a TC Electronic RH450).

So I wanted to give kudos to Brian and Leo and the rest of the Lakland staff. I finally went through with this, found some time to drop the bass off Monday (at like 4:45- got stuck at work and traffic sucked). Less than 24 hours later, got an email from Brian saying it was done. Picked it up yesterday, got to check it out really quickly on the house rig (DNA 1350 into a GK Neo 212), and WOW! What a difference! And no hum either.

That being said, Leo had one of the older undercover bags in his cubicle, and now I want one
