The knobs actually came with the preamp...I bought it from another TB'er who had the pre installed in a new custom bass but decided he wanted a different pre, so he unloaded the Mike Pope, knobs and all. Really sweetened the deal because they are not exactly cheap.

They are pretty easy to source though, Best Bass Gear usually has them on hand.

What kind of gig bag are people using for their 55-94/02's? Not crazy about the fit of my Mono vertigo and m80 double, especially around the head stock. Not damaging or anything, but it's a bit tight.

I have both and both are snug, which honestly, I see as a good thing. I had a Gator semi-hard and it moved around. I just picked up a Vertigo for my 55-94 and love that it is as snug as a bug in a rug. I guess part of me says don't overthink it. Small bumps with leeway lead to rattling, small bumps/knocks in a snug fit leads to no rattling.

Maybe I'm fooling myself?

I have a bunch of different gig bags but I really like the fit of the bass in either a Levys LM-88 and in the MTD double case.

In a week; its at the shop getting a neck refinish to be more Lakland like (oil and wax, not nitro).

I may have to put up me beloved USA JO4 (#83) as I am only playing 5's....I've been on the fence about letting her go but it has gotten little playing time for the past few years

But I'm loving my recent purchase of the DJ5
Now looking for a LOG P5 or LOG PJ5

Any pics of the fit in the portabag?

So it is actually snugger in the Portabag than the Vertigo. I walked through NYC and subway in a bad storm yesterday and the Portabag worked as designed, but I find the area where the shoulder straps join to pinch my neck a bit. So the Vertigo is a bit more comfortable to me when wearing, but of course, you cannot remove the straps. The Portabag has a bit more storage standard, which to me it has the perfect amount, where the Vertigo is a bit thin without the add ons. If forced to choose one, it would likely be the Vertigo. I might have a problem! My new 44-01 seems alarmingly soft when in active mode. It's easily less than half the volume of passive mode. I tried replacing the battery with a fresh one. No dice. If the volume pot is any less than at 100% there is almost no volume. The pot seems quite loose (spins freely) and a bit scratchy.

Should I be concerned? What should I do?

BAM! And just like that, Brian replied and they are going to ship me a replacement volume pot. Now THAT is some fast customer service.

I was super impressed with Lakland customer service when I was getting my 55-94's pickups swapped out. Brian always got back to my emails super quickly, and they got the job done in less than 24 hours.

I'm thinking of getting another 55-01. I have it narrowed down to the Vintage Cream. But which fret board, maple or rosewood? Help me decide.
