hard to say either way it will be great.
the maple a little snappier, the rosewood warmer, that's been my experience.

Hello All,

I'm thinking of getting another 55-01. I have it narrowed down to the Vintage Cream. But which fret board, maple or rosewood? Help me decide.

They both look good. I'd choose based upon the tone you're wanting to achieve.

I'm in my churches worship band. We play anywhere between pop/rock to old school hymns.

For me personally I've always found the sound of maple a little more versatile.

Yes. All Laklands do whether skyline or USA.

I can confirm that my 44-01 came with a little piece of paper saying showing that it was pleked.

Actually, just the Skylines get Plek'd. Lakland has always felt its techs can do a better job working on the frets by hand (and that's obviously labor-intensive, so only the US models get that treatment). Based on the three US Lakies I have, I agree with them. But Plek'd Skylines are awfully nice.

Hmmm I knew they do it by hand on US models but I thought they double checked it on the plek. I saw Dan Lakin do it in a video once. It was a US model he had I'm pretty sure. Maybe not! Of course it's no longer the Lakin era anymore. So it could've changed as well.

Nah US models are done by hand. Just the Skylines are plek'd for that extra quality fretwork. I have both and I can say the US does feel slightly nicer but both are just as gig worthy.

What kind of gig bag are people using for their 55-94/02's? Not crazy about the fit of my Mono vertigo and m80 double, especially around the head stock. Not damaging or anything, but it's a bit tight.

Anyone tried a Sadowsky portabag?

I've been using the Sadowsky portabag for years with my Laklands. I can say the fit is perfect with enough space around the headstock. Highly recommend it

Protection is very good. Its "almost" like a hard case. Plenty of padding on the bottom, around the neck and headstock. I've accidentally let the case fall over once but the bass was perfectly fine.

My Lakland 5's are regularly transported in a single or double [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] bag. They fit great, are quite plush and my basses have bounced around quite a bit in these with no incidents.

Ok All, I just bought the 55-01 in Vintage Cream with maple board from Bass Central for $750. Brand new!!!! Grass Hopper is awesome!!! I will post pictures when I receive it.
