Hey everyone, I am a happy new Lakland owner. Just got this Skyline 44-AJ a couple of days ago, but I can't put it down. While doing my search I couldn't find anything that matches the comfort and quality work done on the Lakland necks. Plus the tone is amazing and very flexible to my needs.

You're welcome! As of 7am this morning, the 44-14s are still available in Natural finish (both the rosewood and maple). Natural/maple is down to $1413 while the Natural/rosewood is down to $1518.

Oh, and if anyone is looking for a deal on a new 55-94 in 3-color sunburst w/ a maple fretboard, MF has them on sale for $3420 (once you apply the Black Friday discount code to the order). Regular price is $3920. Four available at the moment.

Again, no affiliation to either of these companies. Just passing along some good deals!

Hey everyone, I've been gone a while but now have a little more time to get back on TB. I've had these Lakies quite a while, used to play them exclusively but I've been enjoying my RB5's the last few years. Anyway, i'm now playing the Laklands more and just got some new sets of Lakland strings. I always used the Lakland steels on both of these basses, strung through the body. I installed the new sets today and was surprised to see that not only was the B no longer tapered, but also not long enough to be strung through the body. The E-G were long enough to go through body but the B is strung through bridge. I'll gig it tomorrow night and see what I think but I was just curious when and why they made this change. Sorry if this is old news, I've been out of the Lakland world for a bit but glad to be back!!! Thanks for the info!

To all you Lakland owners -- I was originally set to go after a J-style bass and looking at the Sire V7 and Schecter Diamond J Plus. However, the Lakland Skyline 55-02 also has caught my eye. I really want a 35" scale (so no floppy B) and I like the active circuit, coil tap and some of its other features. Will this bass give me the traditional "j-bass" sound, or will I be sorry that I didn't get more of a traditional j-style bass?
