I put all combinations of a 55-01, 55-02, and 55-64 in my M80 double. The 55-64 (P) is over an inch longer than the others and still fits.

It's not mine. It's the "community rig" at my local GC. Personally, I hate it.

There's studio space at my local GC. Originally it was designed for lessons but they also rent it out for bands to rehearse in. It works great because it's centrally located and my bandmates and I are spread out geographically. And since it's fully equipped with drum kit and full backline (including P.A.), all we have to do is literally plug and play.

Guys I'm selling my 55-60. Purchased new from Bass Central. Great bass with the following upgrades:

Yeah, the skylines have a satin poly on the entire neck on necks with maple boards...the rosewood fretboards are unfinished I believe.

Is it normal to have small bubbles in the poly on the board? Very very small but you can feel it ever so slightly. Is that bad or normal?

Probably just being over protective.

Haven't seen that on any of my three maple boarded basses... I suppose it's possible and it wouldn't be good if the finish is actually separating from the wood. Can you capture a pic and send it to Lakland?

I will send Brian at Lakland an email and ask. The spots are very small and only noticeable if you tilt the board and let the light hit it just right. They are pin head size and only on a few different spots on the board.

I'll find out from Brian.

Yup. Never realized how much I don't like the coating until my Lakland. Just had my Sadowsky converted to an oil finish and it feels like my 55-94.

The XL's are only available in medium gauge. Is there any way you can confirm which you have used?

Here's the image from the Bass Strings Online site. I just wonder if the XL's are for 35" scale...or, if not, what are they for?

last I knew (Doude can confirm) Carl's shop is essentially co-located at Lakland. Not necessarily "in the same shop" but the same building.

Carl has a shop in the same building.. He works " contract work" with Lakland and also does his own building and luthiering ( is that a word?)

He is a true artist

On another note... I have reluctantly put my fretted 55-64 on the block. I really want a 4 string P Bass. I may come to my senses and just ignore my silly, self imposed one-in-one-out rule.

Well I took it to my tech here in the Bay Area and he said it was just a little overspray of poly. He said it not a big deal and that it happens.

Like I originally said you cannot see it unless you hold it just right in the light. And even then it is super small. Think pin head small. I'm just being over anal. LoL

Ok my Lakland Brothers, I need help. LoL

So, I was finally able to take my 55-01 to my Worship practice last night. She sounded fantastic and played even better. I'm in Love

Our church has a full PA system. We use IEM's and I have 410 on stage for volume for myself. Our church also has a lighting system for the stage separate from the front of the house lighting that is all controlled from the sound booth. So while we were practicing our sound tech guru was making changes to the lighting in preparation for Christmas service. Well we noticed when the FOH lighting went dimmed my bass started to hiss pretty good. If I stood in a different direction from the lights it minimized. The hiss would totally disappear if the lights were off. And if I turned the treble all the way up it would get worse. Am I describing a shielding issue??
