Has Lakland discontinued the 55-64's? I can't find them anywhere FS.

Yeah... wow, Sweetwater has their listing marked "No Longer Available". Usually they'd have items marked with expected restock with a link to be notified when they're in. Looks ominous. Now I wish I would've kept mine!

Aughh! They don't even have a placeholder for the 55-60! The only J Style 5er's are the DJ and the J Sonic.

If memory serves, it's not unusual for Lakland to go temporarily out of stock on certain less-popular models.

Not to say they might not be discontinued, but probably more likely that they are just waiting for a new shippment from Indonesia.

Last year I sold my 55-02, Barts, Korean made, Dec. 04. Yesterday I played a new one and I swear that the neck was thinner , front to back, than the one I had. Am I imagining that? Are the newer 55-02 necks different than the old Korean ones? Thanks, Jim

there have been no changes to neck profile in many years. I doubt it.

My new 2015 Indo-Lakie 44-02 has a slightly thinner (front to back) profile than my 2006 Korean 4402 model. The frets on the new one seem a little more substantial than the old one too and this new one has been plek'd with some nice action. The old has the Barts and the new has the Hansons. Love 'em both, but give the edge to my new bass, its just a really great sounding and playing Lakland. I've also played the newer 55-02's ad 55-01's and have the same experience with the necks though I am not playing a Lakland 5 at the moment (sold my 55-94 a few years ago thinking I didn't like the 35" scale -doh!). Still have my custom Stingray 5H with Bartolini pup and preamp. That's part of why I moved over to the new 44-02, as I had the Bartolini thing going on with both my 4&5 string basses and wanted the Hanson-Lakland sound. Loving it! Ps - got a schweet deal at Sweetwater on the new 44-02 btw.

Not mine, fyi (wish it was!) . There was a USA Duck Dunn on their yesterday as well, also advertised as preciously being owned by Tony Garnier, looks to have sold.

On the less expensive side, DAddario XLs, especially Chromes if you want flats. I haven't found another brand of flats yet that fit.

Does anyone know if the Japan series skylines are the same as normal skylines? I just noticed these gold 44-02s (with a matching headstock even!!), and would absolutely kill for a 55-02 in the same color. I assume I'd have to order through a Japanese dealer, which might be difficult w/ the new CITES regulations.

They are different in the body wood and pickups used. Japan version uses alder wood and Duncan pickups.

When i got my 55-94 set up by Carl Pedigo, I brought DR Long Necks and he commented on how they were a perfect fit (strung through the body), fyi.
