Question for the group. I've owned a few US Laklands in my past and the necks always have this oil/wax warm amazing feel and finish.

I've noticed a decent amount of photos of "new" Laklands recently that look like the necks are more raw in finish. So, are newer Laklands coming out of the factory with a different neck finish? Or is this just a combination of either photography lighting and/or just player wear?

Found a used Skyline Decade Active at GC today. After playing it I couldn't resist and brought it home. It came with flats and has a pretty massive tone. Weight is a little more than I'd like but I'm hoping I can deal with it.

Actually it is not that big a deal. As long as my fingers are on the strings three is no hum.

I guess the biggest thing would be no tapewound strings but that doesn't bother me too much as I generally don't use them anymore.

This bass is surprisingly versatile. It has the chisonic humbuckers with the toggle switch that lets you choose single coil mode as well. So you can do straight neck pickup mudbucker to a pretty burpy bridge humbucker plus a good range of single coil tones. And that is before you get into using the preamp.

I asked Brian what they are using these days and here's his reply, looks like Tru Oil from Birchwood Casey. I've used it and know that stuff can do a deeper tint so it must be kind of light. I usually use a little orange oil followed with some bowling alley wax.

There's really no reason a customer would need to apply more finish to the back of our necks.
