Lakland Owners Group #69

The case I have for my 2002 55-94 is a cream colored one. Did they switch cases? I really like the cream color but use a Levy's Leathers LM19 in brown when I gig with that bass. On a humorous note, when I gig with the 55-64 I use either a Roscoe or Alleva Coppolo bag!

Yes.. They changed to a Tweed case a few years ago,.. They are a bit lighter

But I too use a good bag.

I used the cases when I moved recently... But other than that... They sit in storage

The bass I bought last year direct from Lakland came with a black case but I think the tweed cases look better. I second the comment that the M80 case is excellent.

They must have changed again...I have not purchased a new Lakland for a few years

Was this a US bass?

I know the skylines were coming with black cases ( if they were ordered as an option) for some time now

Yes it was a US bass that I ordered custom. I requested a case but didn't define the case though so I don't know if there were options on the color. If I order another bass I'll definitely ask about that.

I feel cheated -I bought a Skyline in London last year and was told it didn’t come with a case or bag. Did manage to talk them into throwing a bag into the deal but when it arrrived it was really thin and cheap and definitely not from Lakland. Padding was minimal and shoulder straps had none at all. Bag had no structure at all. I think I looked the make up online at the time and found out it was worth about $30 dollars.

Skylines don’t come from the factory with a OHSC or a bag, it’s something you have to buy seperately, so you were’t cheated.

Ah! Bass praiser above said they came with black cases but I’d been told by 2 shops in the UK that they didn’t so was confused.

Sorry for the confusion... Skylines do not come with a case... But when you bought one in the past ... It was the black one.

The US cases were cream then Tweed.

Looks like they may be only stocking one type of case now.

My apologies

Cleared it up parenthetically.....

Can you custom order a Skyline? I want a 55-64 and can't find one any where.

Skyline 55-64s are getting harder to find.

You cannot special order a skylines.... Sorry.

Maybe you can email [email protected] and see if he knows when the next shipment is coming in... Or if they are even making skyline 55-64s any more...I'm not sure.

You can always order a US version...I have a couple. ... And a skyline 5564 ... Love them all!

Thanks. I will continue to keep an eye out on the online classifieds. The US version is out of my budget at the moment. I may look into a skyline 44-64 to scratch my Pbass itch!

@Lovep - I did just that a few months ago. Picked up a 44-64 in sunburst/rosewood/Tort to fill that pbass void in my life. It kills and has a neck feel that makes you want to keep thumping.

I actually phrased it exactly as you did when posting about the bass on Instagram yesterday.

Same! I snagged this 44-64 out of the classifieds right before Thanksgiving to scratch that p-bass itch! It's an amazing playing/feeling bass, however, it came with a Fender '58 reissue pickup that just didn't do it for me. I recently ordered an NP-4 from Nordstrand and took everything to John @ Bluesman Vintage for a once over and a pickup change out, complete with the BMV harness that's used in his basses. It feels fantastic and sounds amazing now!

I've played a 5 string US Spector Bolt On exclusively for the past 4 years, so it's nice to have a pbass in the arsenal again! ...especially living in Nashville, where people tend to 'listen with their eyes'!
