Hi-hat and I can see the foot movement for the bass drum. Plus, a much easier to make eye contact with the drummer from stage left.
+1 to what some others have said. I like being on the snare side of the drummer because it's a little easier to hear, and they're facing your direction.

Yes, the Imola Red Scheff is mine now. I've been waiting years for a Scheff and finally, the right one has found its way to me! The fact that this one (and it's strap) are BMW themed, sweetened the deal immensely!!! I love my Bimmer and my Laklands!!
I have a thing for them - Sort of like some folks have a thing for pre-CBS Fenders. They just feel right to me. I've been moving away from active and chambered basses, and both of these beauties just kill.
Full disclosure - Mike Lull plekked and set up both of them. I took out the pickups on both and replaced them with my favorites. I'm keeping the original Lindys so as to keep them together. And not using them is probably a good thing anyway. I'd hate to fry the original Lindys at an outdoor gig with bad electricity/generators or wet weather - which can happen during "Festival Season".
The only active bass I use is a Yamaha BBNE2. It's a 5'er with a 1.71" nut and feels perfect to me. Plus, I really dig the neck-through build for a 5 string. The B string just snaps.
Thanks! Carl remembers it! Said it was supposed to be plain teal. But, the painter had a booboo and covered it with the black, making it the first teal-burst Lakland. Glad he did, plain teal would be boring.
