bassist scott that lakland looks fantastic, out of curiosity, do you know what type of fretboard is that?
Thank you! I believe they call it Laurelwood. something I have never heard of before. It has a really nice grain to it.

MY NEW LAKIE HAS ARRIVED AT THE DEALER!!!
Just gotta pay the bill, and they'll pop it in the post for me.
Pics or it didn't happen, I know, but I'll get a-postin' when it's here.
It occurs to me: I read once that the Skyline DJ is as close as you can get to the US models whilst still staying in the Skyline range. But I'm getting a 55-02 fretless, and that must come close to US spec too, right?
It'll be a fun little comparison on build quality and stuff too, since the DJ4 in my profile pic is one of the very last Korean ones, and the 55-02 is Indonesian.
That's helped with giving them names, too. From henceforth, I'll be the proud keeper of Kory and Indy.
Just curious: does ANYBODY else in the LOG have the same bass as me? A fretless 55-02 (or even 55-94) in Honeyburst?
Cheers,

Congrats! Ive owned a 55-02 fretless in 3tsb before. Fretless isn't my thing, and I didn't keep it long.

View attachment 3150850 Installing the Alnico III Nordstrand 51p4s. I was totally happy, thrilled even LOL, w/ the stock single coil. But, I want to try a hum free pickup... and it's my first Nordy. Time to see if Nordstrand is as good as people say they are.
Found a US JO bass in a local shop. It may be the best bass I have ever played. One small concern, it has no serial number that I can find. Also no model name on the headstock. Is this normal?
No model name is fine. Only the early Joe Osborns had a model. The serial numbers are stamped into side of the headstock like this.
And yes. US Laklands are the bees knees.

Cool 35' JJ for sale on reverb:
LAKLAND BASS - custom USA made 4 string, 35" scale, amazing A+++ burl maple top
