You'll absolutely love a US 4464.... But to answer your initial question skylines can come with a true 1.75" neck.
I had one personally... And know others who have as well.
Does it have blocks instead of dots?..
If so. It may be a Duck Dunn or a custom... Which had narrower necks.
The seller must not have known what they had.
The US 44-64’s have the option of 1.75”, 1.625”, or 1.5”

No blocks, just clay dots. It’s a comfy neck, I just prefer the wider option for a P bass. I sense that the seller didn’t know any better about the neck, and it seemed to work fine for him. He also stated that a reputable repairman set it up prior to the sale.....I think he needs a new repairman
Wish I could find a more stabile or rigid USA neck with a rosewood board. No one in their right mind would sell one.

My Lakie necks are very stable.... And I have several different board woods including rosewood
Sorry to confuse......The neck is not warped, I just have 7 high frets I need to deal with; no biggie. I prefer 1/4 sawn necks, I feel they are a bit stiffer than flat sawn and offer a bit more stability during temp and humidity changes. The Skyline Glaub is a good bass, I just want a USA model in the near future.

If you want quarter sawn, then US Lakie is the way to go.
I have a couple of Skylines and have zero issues with neck stability...yes ALL of my basses have to be tuned periodically based upon humidity etc....but no warping or major issues on ANY Lakie I've owned.

Maybe has been asked before - but what options would the group suggest for a 32” med-scale Lakland other than HB-30 or ordering custom USA model? I have a 2002 44-02 Dlx which plays great but does feel just a little too big for me when compared to playing other brand med-scales. I’ve talked with John at Lakland and he’s not going to do one-off necks, but did direct me to a custom new build. I did see the thread where someone got a luthier to build a med-scale neck. I just like 100% Lakland - if I can. Would love to do the customer USA build - but don’t have the bucks. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
Well...love all of the tones I can make as compared to my VM Mustang.
The story of the purchase goes like this. It sat at the local Sam Ash for about a month and a half. I sold a gun, trade the Mustang for a Rockbass Corvette, sold Corvette and got the Scheff.
I bet Carl Pedigo would build one for you. It wouldn't say Lakland on the headstock but it'd be the same shape. You can't get much more Lakland then a bass (or just a bass neck) built personally by their head builder.
My Carlo looks like a 44-94 but it has a 35" neck, Birdseye blocks and a jatoba neck core. All things Lakland won't do.

I am relatively new to Lakland. I have a 55-02 with Lakland electronics and a maple fretboard. I bought it used, and haven’t changed the strings yet. They are roundwounds; not sure what type.
I love the feel of the bass. However, I have been having trouble dialing in any sort of mellow, p-bass like tone. It primarily seems to have a tonal range of very bright to less bright. I don’t want to go to flats, as I still would like to keep the option of enjoying that bright sound when the song calls for it.
Your observations and/or suggestions would be appreciated!

I had this problem when I was recording a disc back in 2009. For me, the solution was to buy a P Bass.
It depends on how legit a P voice you're looking for. If you cut out the bridge pickup and mess with your tone you can get into the ballpark. If you're looking for that legendary split-pup tone, nothing else nails it completely.
I got pretty close to everything else with my 55-92, though. Even a passable MusicMan sizzle.
