That is true. Would not be that big of a physical adjustment for me as I have big hands with long fingers. Had a 5er YEARS ago before they were the majority. Just never quite bonded with it. Technology with the 5 then was not what it is today.But more notes available at the same time....

Is it like a 44-01, 44-94 neck but just wider along with a flatter radius?

It is a flatter radius.... And very comfy... Very.
Yes.. It does widen a bit more than a 4494. IMHO...Feels alot like a 4464 neck to me...but widens a bit faster and more...
Nothing like any other 5er I've played.

A looong time ago I had a Yamaha TRB 5P that had an Ebony FB. The B string was not very good. Tried many different strings etc. May be it was just me, but could not get that B string to sound good to me.

My 44-94s feel so comfy and narrow, even at 1.625 at the nut. The 5 is considerably wider but still very comfy. You’ll either pick it up and go “oh my, that’s too wide” or you’ll love it.
Awwww come on!! The purple really grabs the eye! The black.... well it’s just another black guitar.

Hanging in there. Lots going on over here as well. I just came off a relatively busy summer, gigging-wise. Which is always good, hah...
Just highlighting the beauty that is 55-02/55-94 bass as I played both of mine this weekend and got compliments from the respective sound guys at each gig that they didn’t have to do anything to get my bass to sit right in the mix. I post this because the band I’m in consists of two electric, 1 acoustic, fiddle, keys, and drums so the sonic space is somewhat limited. One of my 55-02’s is equipped with the LH3 pre running steel strings and my other one has the Bart pre and I’m running flats. I run primarily just a DI (maybe a little dirt but no EQ other than what’s available on the bass. They are a veritable Swiss Army knife of tone and play so incredibly easy.
I know; preaching to the converted. Anyway, here they are. Spalt has the LH3 w/steels and Quilt has the Bart with flats.
