Lakland Owners Group #69

Good for you...have you picked out a new preamp yet? It's a simple up grade if you are handy with a soldering iron and can read a simple schematic. You can get the Bartolini US NTMB module for about $99 and the pots you need for another $20.

I've read a number of posts regarding this bass.
The common thread is that the MK1 Bart pups are great but maybe not the MK1 pre amp
It's the same pre on my 44-02 which I like OK (but still not sure it's a keeper)

Which pre do you recommend and what didn't you like about it on the 44-01

There are 2 transparent purple 55-02’s on Sweetwater at the moment- one is a “demo”, which I wonder if it is the b-stock one in the Lakland email from last week.

Anyways, no affiliation, just drinking a cup of coffee and dorking on the internet...

Well..... did you order it yet???

I’m really liking the fret wire size on my new 44-64. They’re very comfortable. Does anyone know exactly what size frets Lakland are using on their P basses? They’re not nearly as tall as my previous Fender American Professional frets.
I love tiny vintage size fret wire!

So this happened

Swapped the original Bart’s that had worn almost through the blushing for Nordstrand N4jse and big splitman, kept the traditional Lakland wiring and the Bart pre
Do you mean that the strings had eaten away at the Bartolini plastic, almost down to the bar magnet?

Also, what do you think of the sound change? I'm a fan of the older Barts… the ones that pre-date the later "Dark Barts" that some speak of. I also recently became a Nordy fan. So, I'm curious to know if it's an improvement, and what generation Barts you had?

Yes- it auto corrected housing .... also not the right word!

It’s pretty darn incredible... extremely hot- almost untamable... but I was kind of looking for an audio equivalent of the “I pick things up and put them down” guy at the gym :-)

I want a MM Big Blade and a matching neck J Blade for old SN 11. But, Nordstrand recommends their preamp for the MM Blade. So, I’d end up spending probably close to $600. And, I don’t want to spend that kind of $$ just to tinker with an already awesome sounding bass!

And my car dealer recommends I get oil changes from them ;-)
