I sent an email to Leo he responded initially and asked if I was the original owner of the bass, to which I replied no and I haven't heard back from him since. Oh well I guess I'll give him a little more time and see if he gets back to me.

Any way seeing as the split is directly under the A string I wonder if lowering the string may help some. If it is a little closer to the magnetic field perhaps it can overcome the split somewhat. I might try that and see if there is any improvement. Perhaps even raise the pups a little too.

And these are the Lakland pups.

I find this phenomenon very interesting. I had TI flats on my 55-02 and there was only a hint of A string being weaker. If I didn't know about this I don't think I would notice. However, once I put Hi Beams it was definitely there. Like that zing was just missing on A string. And even more interesting, once I included compressor in the loop, A string dramatically improved. Go figure.

BTW, I also emailed Leo 3 days ago, but got no response so far. A bit disappointing.

I find that really interesting as I use DR Hi Beams on all of my basses. Maybe the two just don't get along very well.

Still nothing from Leo.

Picked this bad boy up! At first I was scared of the scale and width of the neck but after playing it for the first time I fell right in love with it! In other news, looks like I'm selling my Ray35 hehe.
