Lakland Owners Group #69

If your brother was worth anything at all he'd see about sending you a pack since the company he works for does that kind of thing
Yep, lots of uses for it than just a photo bag. I used that at NAMM for magazines and brochures. MUCH easier than a briefcase when I have a lot of documents to carry. and it makes a nice camera case, too!

My new science project......
Bought a 5501 from TBer ModulusAcacia, who owns J. Kennedy Guitar Repair. It's a nat/rw under 9 lbs........he is gonna have Pat Wilkins paint the body and headstock Cleveland Browns orange (I'm no fan of the team, just the color), then I asked him to replace the stock pups with Lace Alumitones, wire it passively and swap the knobs for aluminum.....all of which will drop the weight about another pound (no battery, no pre, and the new pups are much lighter). The Alumitones will completely change the tone as well......it will be a looong wait, but come mid-summer I'll report the results.

On another note, I was struck again last night how different my 5594 sounds in the band context from when I play alone. When it's just me, it sounds warm and full but I can't seem to get a mid forward tone that punches......but with the band, all controls flat save a few degrees of mid bump, she cuts like a scimitar :-) Essentially the same rig (home=SMax 9.2/ shuttle 2 112, band practice room Shuttle 2 210T combo).

Sounds like a fun project!

I know what you speak about....room acoustics and furnishings have ALOT to do with it.....my basses always sound different ( usually better) at church than in my office/ music room....I get much more mid sound at home.....in the band setting it Is more balanced...

Hi there,

here is my newest Addition.

The Story behind it:

I've had a 55-02 Deluxe before and missed it right in the Moment that I sold it. I've had a Sandberg JM5, wich was a great Bass, but a little on the heavy Side (5Kg) There was a Guy that offered his brandnew 55-02 Deluxe as a Trade Object. I offered my Sandberg, but the Guy doesn't want to trade.

I then offered my Sandberg in a Dutch Forum as a Trade Object and someone offered me a nice Spector Euro 5LX, wich was also a great Bass, but not really my Cup of Tea, but the Guy with the 55-02 Deluxe liked the Spector very much. So I traded my Sandberg against the Spector Euro 5 LX and then traded the Spector against the Lakland 55-02 Deluxe. It is a 2013 Model, absolute flawless with LH3 Preamp and Lakland Pickups.

Here it is...

Hello all.. I have a Lakland 55-60 with maple / rosewood neck. Thing is, I'm a maple fretboard guy. Would anyone out there like to trade your maple/maple neck for my maple/rosewood? Know anyone that has one for sale? Thanks!

Mark, I would have taken you up in a heartbeat a year ago. I had a burst 5502 with maple neck that I liked, but really regretted not getting rosewood when I bought it in 07. Wound up buying an AJ and swapping necks with my 55-02 so I'd have rosewood on my #1 and a decent backup... Since it was my backup I thought what the hell... I'll put an Aguilar obp3 in it and wire it vol vol mid bass/treb.

Voice. Of. God. That vol vol makes SO much difference.

The 55's not my #1 anymore and I'm now digging the maple on red!

Good luck!
