Lakland Owners Group #69

Ok I went by GC today and tried an US 5594 against my Indy 5502, to make sure I wasn't slipping in the US model. But, my 5502 will be all I need. The neck felt way better to me. Maybe I'm just hype on the new bass thing, but the skyline would be my first choice if I purchased another Lakland. NO disrespect to the US owners. We all play what works for us.

The skyline's satin finish might feel faster than the oiled US to you?

Yeah, our location has a 5594, Glaub and Osborn. They're pretty expensive too, well the 5594 is. They've been sitting there for awhile. The 5594 was sitting up high, had to have assistance to play, now it's in arms reach.

I really think that even though they are not US made the company still takes pride in their gear and the final set up still comes from the US shop and get the same PLEK that the US models do. This is what sets Lakland apart from some of the other "bigger" names in the business. I have played several 55-94's and other US models and have NO complaints about them, but you can still have an awesome bass by going with a Skyline series. I have 2 skylines and anytime I have had an issue I would call Lakland or email them and they have helped diagnose and also sent me parts when needed (free of charge for a couple repairs). They are just an all around great company to deal with.

But last time I checked, US models still had fret work done by hand. PLEK was reserved for the imports cause it's quicker.

even Lakland management says the differences are minimal....
