Extremely versatile... Yes...Ed can make any bass sounds great...

Gman... No we didn't..I never owned a 4407....

With a tap switch these things are very versatile....

Boomy , and large when you want them to be ( I once had to hold my own with an organ ... Which the 5507 could do with ease) and intricate when needed

There are so few out there and no more being made.... If you see a chance take it.....

This one has the tap toggle as well as the passive tone control ( small silver knob)... Which is not a standard ...

I have the tone knob and love it... It works in passive but also enhances the tone in active mode

Nice description. It’s a shame that they are not still in production. Can you do a Custom order for one?

Really don't know...

I know you can no longer get the chrome surrounds... There were issues with some of the pickups (thank goodness not mine!)

I think you can get CHIsonics in the black pickup covers.... But not the same IMHO...

The finish is their Tobacco Burst. It feels and sounds as great as it looks. Very happy to have a passive Jazz with single coils again.

After trying to bond with this bass for a few weeks I’m sad to say it’s listed here in the classifieds. I’m just having a problem with the additional weight, full body size and squarer contours as compared to my Sadowskys. Looks like Roger and company will be building another bass for me. I would hope someone here on TB grabs this one so I don’t have to deal with the crazies on those other sites.

Yeah, it's really nice. Each of the CHIbuckers can be tapped for single coil and the middle pickup has a 3-way switch so you isolate each single coil for hum cancelling with the other pickups in single coil mode. The bass definitely excels at P bass, Thunderbird, and Musicman style tones. The single coils sound good but there is a pretty decent volume drop when just using singles. I usually like to add in at least 1 humbucker in the mix because then the bass seems to retain the right volume.

Yup! Just like my Caribbean Burst Lakland. I love it, although I will say that both of these basses started out as standard 5 strings Low B-G and ended up being strung E-High C both because that is my preferred string orientation but also because the Low Bs on the 34" scale were just a weee bit too floppy to me. I have played a couple of US 5 string Laklands and they definitely seem more authoritative in the low B region. Now I kinda want one!

My chibucker loaded bass we call Sexual Chocolate has the same volume drop when switching to single coils. I don’t have the option of using one or the other in humbucker mode. Mine is either both in single coil, or both as humbuckers.
I always stay in humbucker mode. Maybe I should let Carl mod it, hmmm.

Yeah, the 35” B does beat a 34” for sure, IMO and IME. You can slap a heavier B on a 34” bass, to fix the looseness. But, it kills the B’s tone. The fundamental is there, but that’s about it. 34” scale is perfect for E - hiC though!
