Anyone have any info on a Lakland built 30 1/4" neck for the JO? It's an 18 fret according to Carl. If anyone is rockin' theirs, I'd be curious as to weight, neck shape and would you like to sell?

It's a fantastic bass and I probably should have kept it. You'll like that the original case comes with it even though it wasn't listed. My Lakland jazz with Chi humbuckers hasn't sold and a Mike Lull 54P in my favorite color (teal) showed back up on the GC site. It arrived today and if I keep her I have a Fred Hammon Darkstar going in.

No. That bass started at $4300. I think he thinks the teal burst adds some value? I mean, I am a Lakland believer, but I could order a brand new one for nearly that price! It's been for sale for quite some time...

So, I played out last monday with my standard rig, the two basses in my avatar going into my swiss army knife of a pedalboard. Really rocked it, felt great.
Anyways, putting the two basses in the Gator double case (which is a hidden gem if you're lugging two basses around: not expensive and super high quality!), someone came up to me, saw how plush the padding is in the case, and said:
"Wow, nice case! Bet it cost more than the bass!"
Oh, the pain...
I mean, cmon, really?! The fact that the bass I had in my hand was a five string fretless with a quilt maple top didn't seem to twig with this dude at all...
Still, laughed about it in the car on the way home.
But thought I'd share with people who could understand my shock...

I'd say the guy was just exaggerating for effect to emphasize his compliment.
I own two single and one double Gator ProGo gig bags... they are quite nice!

Unfortunately, Lakland does not sell pickguards. They will direct you to a custom maker like Pickguardian.com or WDMusic.com. My experience is that both of these places and likely others require a sample or tracing provided by you to make a custom pickguard.
While they may have made a 55-01 pickguard, they will not make one on spec without some assurance that is going to fit your guitar. If they make one from a stock template from a previous customer, they cannot possibly account for minor changes in production that would perhaps cause it to be poor fit on your instrument.
Pickguards for these basses do occasionally show up here on the classifieds and also elsewhere like Reverb.com or ebay.com. Just keep searching. If you find one you like buy it even if it's not the right color. You could paint or wrap it... or use it to send out to have a custom one made. Again a random one that shows up for sale still may not be a perfect fit though, but you can sometimes mod the thing to work.

The neck feels thinner like a DJ5 neck & weighs around 9lbs.

I’ve got one, I don’t use it all the time, but I’m glad I have it when I need it! As a matter of fact, I think Gator’s bags and foam core cases are the best deals in the market.
Yep thats where i keep hitting a wall. I contacted the guy who owned and he told me where to go. But no one saved the pattern
