Lakland Owners Group #69

Yup! Just like my Caribbean Burst Lakland. I love it, although I will say that both of these basses started out as standard 5 strings Low B-G and ended up being strung E-High C both because that is my preferred string orientation but also because the Low Bs on the 34" scale were just a weee bit too floppy to me. I have played a couple of US 5 string Laklands and they definitely seem more authoritative in the low B region. Now I kinda want one!

Oooo das right... You have that one as well.... Lovely bass dat is!!!

Listed on linked in and I assume the book of face as well...

Indonesian... what are the differences? If it's a matter of a couple holes not lining up I may be able to live with that.
Here’s my Korean Duck Dunn W/B/W pickguard. Check out and compare the screw hole placement and overall shape, and see what you think. It’s shielded on the back, over the control cavity area.

Does look like at least 2 or three holes are slightly different. Hard to say for sure... looking at two photos is not very accurate I don't suppose.

Thanks for posting.

A Facebook post about a Decade with A US neck got me thinking... how many Dan Era “end of month” specials are floating around out there?

I asked Brian about my 44-94 EOMS and he sheepishly said they cut that stuff out when The Pirrucello’s took over. His story was that Dan would whip out these hybrids to increase liquidity or to squeeze out revenue from resources (a body that wasn’t quite right- a neck with a weird grain that couldn’t make the cut) From a business perspective I totally get why Lakland Guitars Ltd. would distance themselves from these beautiful bastards ... you can’t warranty one offs, and it could degrade the brand as a whole... but there are still some gems out there, I just want to know how many!

who else has a “factory hybrid”/end of month special?

Rolled out the 55-14 for it’s christening weekend of gigging and it did exactly that which I was hoping; sat perfectly in the mix and was comfortable to play.

As an aside, I usually just plug in a DI but the sound engineer at this particular venue prefers to mic a 10” speaker cab. He realizes the hollow stage needs some separation to keep the boominess at bay so that’s why the cab is sitting on a couple railroad timbers. :woot:
