When I was there Maloney's and Erin's were the spots in Bryn Mawr I think they're both closed now. We also used to go to Brownie's in Ardmore for happy hour on Fridays I think it was like a $5 cover and then drafts were $.25 and well drinks were $.50 for 2 or 3 hours. Brownie's is now the Ardmore music hall. I haven't been back to campus for at least 10 years.

Proof the the 44-01 is a good platform for up grades. With new Bart pre, the OS SHOULD be an improvement over the stock 44-01. First thing I did with mine was replace pre and pups. Now VERY versatile withe Audere pre and Big Single pups. Maybe JJ can chime in since he had a chance to gig with mine.
I'm going to sell my 44-01. I wanted to try one forever.. just not bonding with it like I'd hoped. But I absolutely love my Duck Dunn, it's a beast.
Max’s 44-01 is FANTASTIC!!! I had my Geezer 44-64 with me, in case I didn’t like the 44-01, and I never touched it. I played the whole show, except for 6 down tuned songs, on the 01.
I left the pre flat, both pickups full on, and changed the Z mode to get a bright Stingray sound for RHCP Higher Ground. The rest of the night it was set for a beautiful full tone that beats any single coils I’ve played, and even got burpy on me, at one point.... a sound I’ve never really gotten from a bass.
I highly recommend Max’s mods for any 01 or the new OS models.

Bought a 5 string J-Sonic, recently. Traded a Fender Elite for it; the Fender worked fine but I wasn't really into its preamp. Got lucky that a local GC had one so I went there and try it out.
Great B string but was little on the fence about it since it was a little heavy (> 10 lbs) but the Fender weight about the same so I went ahead and traded for it.
I did have to adjust the neck a little since it had a slight forward bow. Still relatively flat but it doesn't buzz at the higher frets.

I went from Fender to Lakland too. Besides the better B string the Laklands don't have that dead spot around the 8th fret on the G string that a lot of Fenders have for some reason.
This would be my sequence of inquiry.
Is it wax buildup? Yes, then remove wax and polish with a non wax polish.
No, then was it buffed with an overly aggressive tool or metal band clothing? That could leave micro scratches that reflect/bounce the light. Will have to take scratches out or refinish.
Otherwise could be a bad coating job such as the wood not being clean and the top coat is delaminating from the wood, which would allow light to scatter along the bottom surface of the coating.
I will admit I’m not good at cleaning my basses. They get a wipe down on occasion with a wax free cleaner. I think it’s the top coat not prepped right but I don't recall seeing any issues when I bought it. I sent an email and pics to Lakland.
I spend my days, working from home, trying my best to ignore them while they whisper behind my back to come and play...
really like the Lakland 55-01 (or whatever) with the EBMM pick guard. its a mind blower to some people, no doubt.
Yeah. I get a lot of comments from fellow players on that one. If they know it’s a Lakland, they want to know where to get that guard. If they don’t know it’s a Lakland, they want to know what it is and where they can get one.
The sad thing is, I haven’t been playing ANY of them nearly enough.
