I'm trying really hard to do a thorough A/B'g of the Lakland versus the Sire but I'm having a hard time putting the 55-02 down - I think I may have my answer to which one is better for me personally. Just curious - would GC be the one that designates the bass 'blemished' based on how they rec'd the shipment etc., or are you thinking Lakland called this a blemished/b-stock etc. bass and sold it to GC for less and GC priced it accordingly?

I'm thinking it's a Lakland stated B stock

I've owned a couple of "B stock" models and couldn't see any issues...

Sooo... I was looking for a P-bass lately. Was thinking of something around 1200dollar mark with Fender on headstock. Tried alot of basses. Then went to one music store to just try Skyline series and some Sire basses. Then, there she was. US 44-64 Lakland in Lake Placid Blue. I knew that it was over my budget but tried it anyway. Holy hell... this was the BEST P I have played! It was so resposive and had more punch and hi-mids than other P basses before. Also it tamed really well with the tone control. That tone pot is also really sensitive compared to many others. Well... I went to ask about the price and they told me that its in BIG sale, around 2200 dollars. It had been on the store for a long time they told me. I played it more and loved it more. Went back to the cashier and said, ”dude whats the LAST price for that bass”. He said that if I take it now I can have it for 1900$... I gave him the money and took the bass home! Im happy that my wife is a musician also and wont judge me LOL! It also matches almost to my CS Fender jazz

Btw, Carl seems to be very happy with the way my Sheehan Relentless Dimarzio P bass pickup sounds. I’ve yet to get to try it. I had Dimarzio ship it straight to Lākland. I got it a few days after they announced the release. I see me buying many more in the future: chrome P designed to work as a ramp... who could want more?

Special thanks to @JEDI BASS for swapping his chrome hardware for my black hardware. I always liked the Geezers, but wasn't a fan of the black hardware. Anyway, here is my one of a kind GZR.
