Ok, y'all... this is Scarlett... I've held off as long as I can, but I can't any longer..
I have to let her go. I recently jacked up my knee at work , and having to pay out of pocket for doctors visits, MRI, x-ray, meds, everything... I'm at the point of having to dip into my savings.
My intention was to do what @MAXSPINRUN suggested and drop new p'ups and pre into her..
She's a 2003 Skyline 44-01...
It'll ship in the generic hard shell case that it came in from Reverb... PM me for more pics, price, and info, if you're interested.

Is that a US or Skyline HB? What pickups are on there now, and do they fit the Chi Sonic routing, or did you have to modify it? I have a Skyline HB (same 3TBS) and would like to try a different voiced pickup set. I had an older one with Barts that I sold because I didn't like the tone, and couldn't find a decent pickup replacement set. The Chi Sonics sound okay, but i would like a deeper tone.
I'd like to (as my granny used to say as she threatened me with a switch) "stripe your legs" with a new stainless B string!!Ok I'll say it..." If only it were a 5 string...."
So, I know this group might be biased, but I am looking at a Lakland DJ-4 in Natural. I currently have a Fender Classic 60s Jazz bass. I've never spent $1500 on a bass before. Can anyone give me their thoughts on this bass and if you have/had a Jazz, how do they compare?

DJ has a smaller body than the Jazz
Other than that, they are both jazz basses and sound/behave similar
Everything else is small details that we obsess about on TB but have little bearing on how well they play

Honestly, the #1 dealbreaker for me is the weight. Find one that is max 8.5-9lbs. Anything over and I'm sure you can find another one. I haven't played one, but it looks like a great modern J that will hang well and has all the little details that will make it great. I wouldn't worry about that kind of thing. I'm sure the design is great. But the weight is something you can control.
My current Jazz is 9.2 lbs. I think I saw that the Skyline DJ-4 comes in under 8lbs.

I have some +9 basses that are totally fine. And I do get that some people love their heavy basses. However, if I was buying a new bass today and wasn't sure about whether to buy it or not, the gating item would be weight. I'll always wait for something in the 8.5 or under range.

Weights on Skylines have varied a lot historically. And I heard reports that recent ones are coming on the heavy side. If weight is an issue you might have to double check. Sweetwater is pretty good to work with you on that.
