I would be curious as to your experience. I have always found all the people at Lakland to very helpful and courteous. I guess everybody has a bad day. I hope it was an isolated incident.

Worst setup bass I've ever bought. The previous owner had set it up with a serious backbow and mile-high saddles. I have no idea how he managed to get a note from it. I've got it 70% sorted, but still getting some buzzing above the 10th fret.
So it still needs a bit more work, but it already plays really nicely. Heaviest bass I've ever owned though, thankfully it will primarily be a studio and home bass (my main live bass is a semihollow headless
)
Between this and my 33-35" multiscale, I don't think I'll ever go back to a 34" B string again.

I've ordered two custom builds from Lakland and they've been excellent to deal with, quick to reply and helpful (even when I ended up not going with a 3rd US build as my old Skyline came back to me).
Both basses arrived in perfect condition and were fantastic basses. I still have my 44-94 PJ (wonderful bass), and while I don't have the 44-64 any longer (was a bit too heavy for me), but it sounded and played brilliantly.
So yes, would recommend, brilliant basses! Lakland 4 Life.

I've ordered a US Lakland in the past and had a great experience. Ordering was a breeze, and I got good suggestions from the crew. Bass was completed right on time (the stated build time was 6 months at the time). I've been to both the current shop and the old one when Dan owned the company and always been treated right, even when I had zero interest in buying at that point. Being local and thus able to have the occasional face-to-face conversation may be an advantage, admittedly.
This kind of feedback or statement, without mentioning topic and details, does not help anyone - to you, to us as a customers or to Lakland as someone who could do something better.
Agree totally! Start a thread, detailing everything and post us a link. Or, tell the whole story here and we can make sure JP sees it and has a chance to do something.
My Lakland was a custom and my only interaction was with JP. I have had several custom bass builds with other builders. Some guys interact more than others. It really just comes down to time management. If they are constantly sending updates, then that is taking time away from other duties they have running a business. That said, JP was responsive to all my emails and my experience was very positive. There may have been a few times where I resent an email and said any updates on this, but I totally expected this going into it. The level of interaction was appropriate and customer service was excellent. My experience.

That's quite the GREAT 5594 (If you ever sell it please let me know).
From the post, it sounds like most issues were handled "in time" for you to get the bass you wanted.
Was it mostly the top issue? Anything else?
Sounds like you had a good experience. That bass is spectacular, I love it, very special. I have communicated with Lakland several times. Communication did not involve a sale and response was still quick. I have full confidence that WHEN I do a custom order that they will knock it out of the park! My order will be some variation of my now gone, 4-94 that was very special from the early days of Lakland. Lakland is my bass of choice. Love them, keep up the stellar builds.
Yeah, no worries or doubts at all that JP and the Lākland crew will treat me right in the future, just as they have in the past.

Yup, I agree as well. Leo, Brian & JP all reached out to me when I placed my order. They seemed just as excited as I was when I gave them my specs!! Can’t wait to share photos with the group as they become available!
I don't see any cause for disappointment in that thread. They kept him informed and accommodated a MAJOR change to the build when he asked for it.
Moaning on the LOG thread still smells a bit like trolling, imo.
Ah well. I've just got the news that the baptist association of Germany has accepted my application and is looking for a church to place me in, I have bigger fish to fry...
