Spent the night with my 55-14. What a joy to play. She heads off for a refinish this morning. Just not a burst guy.
Just made this purchase - a Skyline 44-64 Custom fretless I got for a fair price.
I've seen posted around here that once you get your first Lakland, it's your gateway to more Lakland's. Add me to that category. Since I got my first DJ-4 last summer, I kept looking at other Lakland's. And I've been wanting a fretless, so now my DJ-4 will have a sibling. Will post more pics when it arrives.
Anyone have experience with these? The owner said it came with roundwounds. Was thinking of putting on Cobalts or Chromes. Also, will the bridge pickup get some hum when soloed? I assume the neck pickup will not, being a P pickup. I've never had a P/J. Surprisingly, can't find any info or demo vids on YouTube.

Ernie Ball Slinky Colbalt Flatwounds are the perfect string for me, great feel, with a very bright modern sound. D’addario Chromes are very old school to me
They feel stiff and don’t have the sound I’m looking for.
I have that exact same set up! Well, except a 55-94. The same! That Berg set up is just devine! Just great. And of course, the Lakland is why we are here. I look forward to seeing the new finish! Great setup! Congrats!
Anyone have a pic of a Sonic Blue or Daphne Blue 55-94 with Rosewood board?

P.S. I haven’t refinished my 1959 Sunburst Fender Precision because the I prefer the original finish to be preserved as much as possible.

Yeah, looks like these are a “Sweetwater exclusive”, with the reliced sonic blue and roasted maple neck. They even have a 55-64.
