Pretty much on point. I ordered mine from Dan in 2003 just b4 I retired out the Air Force after hearing and playing a Willie Weeks model that Chuck M had.. Dan told me he had two 55-63 bodies left and whatever & however I wanted it, he would make!! I specifically put Lindy's in it but kept the regular 55-94 preamp with active/passive bass, treble, & mid switch. The Fralins are just incredible. Everyone who hears or plays that bass is still amazed at the growl and muscle it has. That bass can nail the Marcus tone. I tried to get Dan to make a 6 string like it, but He said it just wasn't cost effective cause too few players played 6s (at the time).. If memory serves me correctly the next jazz style after the 55-63 died was a model called the 55 AJ.?? I'm not sure if the Daryll Jones was b4, during or after the AJ but the DJ 4s & 5s originally had J style Aero pickups in em obviously b4 Lakland was making they're own pickups on a grand scale. I wanted one, but missed that boat mainly cause I was so satisfied with my 55-63.. I remember visiting Chicago at the old factory when they 1st started winding their own pickups. Great history of amazing instruments. Dan and John P will know the full story but that's what I remember...

What is going on with that fingerboard??? It looks like someone emptied the vacuum bag onto it...get that thing some Feed n Wax stat!
Regarding the weight on these basses...they're not heavy, they're just big toned!
Is feed n wax for rosewood?! I use F-ONE oil. Either way, that board looks so dry I’d be worried about it, honestly. I’d pass based on that alone.

But, will somebody please tell him to stop with the other brand name dropping… the “I’ve fixed (insert non-existent and never heard of) LĀKLAND flaw” and the way he implies his era was superior to the Pirruccelli’s. And the my headstock is a mash up of Fender and Musicman blah blah blah. Make a bass and talk about what makes it special, not how you copied Lākland stuff or made a variation of other people’s ideas. The past is gone, move on. And those god-awful knobs!!
