The 55-63 is now a the dual J. It is basically a 55-94 body with Jazz pickups. I never had the Lindy Franklins so I don’t know how they compare to a Fender Jazz. The Willie Weeks model never came to fruition and the 55-63 became the duel J. That’s what my research came up.
Maybe I should clarify a little bit. Here in Nashville when you go into the studio many old school producers and engineers want to see something that looks like a fender.
Elsewhere on TB those are referred to as FSO or Fender shaped object.
Obvious instruments that qualify as an fso would be a Sadowsky, Mike Lull, Lakland 55-60 & 55-64 etc.
I am sure the 55- dual J sounds like a jazz bass, but I'm wondering if it looks enough like a fender to satisfy the old school producers.

From what I’ve read, I would say the 55 dual J would not appease the Nashville producers that expect to see a Fender. The 3+2 headstock and unique body shape make it too un-Fender-ish. But, it’s worth a try I suppose. Someday, they’ll have to get smart and realize that there’s thousands of other fantastic basses in the world that didn’t pop out of Leo’s butt…. right?
I have a 54 dual J....I don't consider the 55/44 body shape to be Fenderesque....and the fact that mine's trans orange with chi-sonics makes it even less of a FSO IMHO.
