I have DR Sunbeams on mine. Just put them on last month for the first time. How do they differ from the Hi-Beams?
Maybe get an unlined neck from Lakland?

That works if his instrument is a USA as all unlined Laklands are USA only. Most of those out in the wild are lined. Lined fretless is a great marketing tool while a hideous intonation and aesthetic one. On a fretted instrument we're out of tune much of the time while on fretless most of us always are.

My 44-64 fretless is a Skyline. I do love the clean look of an unlined fretless and also do love the bass. Haha, yeah, and despite what anyone thinks, a fretless is mostly going to be out of tune. A slight finger roll to the left or right will do that. I used to play an unlined fretless many years ago. With the lined board, I find that sometimes I spend too much time focused on exactly where my fingers are in regards to the lines. Exactly.
Even more incongruous is an out of line drummer who can't tune a kit.
I call them Tourniquet Drummers.
Don't most unlined necks have the dot markers where the fret lines would be (not in between line on a lined/fretted neck)?
If you simply remove the fret lines, you might find yourself struggling because the dots are in the wrong place
I would leave the markings on the side so it would look like where the frets would be. I think that’s the best of both world’s on a fretless.

Anyone ever try one of these with the J Retro preamp? Thoughts? I looking forward to getting mine next week.

Listening to "Raised on Radio" with a bourbon (and headphones) after a pretty successful practice for an off site (not church) 2 hours Christmas set we do every year (but this year a bit "amped up" (e.g. funner more challenging songs) due to one of the singers taking control over the usual church band leader and with new musicians...so great all around).
We got more done in 4 hours tonight than we did in a few 4-5 hour "practices" prior.....we have 26 songs so getting parts figured out and form is huge....especially with (2) guitarists, (2) Piano players (piano and "color"- horns ,strings, Hammond Organ, etc. ); drummer; percussionist, and several singers...one of the main issues is that not everyone can show up at every practice and we had several people with musical backgrounds (i.e music teachers and/or people who make side money doing music) show up tonight.... so "things got done" and planned (right!)
We really need 2-3 more focused practices but that will not happen because we need to be ready next Friday night.
On a bass front, I'm using my LOG bass as well as my NS designs CR5M basses....
Regardless....just wondering if you have a "standard set" and what that is...and maybe more interesting is Why?
Journey has so many "great songs"...how do you choose?

Yes - had one in my DJ 4 and DJ 5...LOVED IT!!!!
It was transparent but gave the bass an enhanced sound that the std passive pickups did not have.
You will love it!!!

Hey Lakland owners. Just need your opinion on this Skyline 44-02 for sale. It’s got some special features that seem custom built. I wasn’t able to copy the text so see attached photo. Some examples neck goes from 10”-13”, graphite rods, bone nut, two piece body. Also says it’s 35” scale and only 8 pounds. Does this seem legit?
I heard from the seller. He had a 55-02 for sale as well and those are the specs for that one. He just copied and pasted it for the 44-02.
Its not common for a Skyline to be that light but its not impossible and I have seen other listings of ones that were around that weight. The scale and radius are just incorrect specs.
