Lakland Owners Group #69

A question on hardshell cases. I bought a nice used 55-02 a couple months ago. The bass is in great condition but the case is pretty beat up, so I am looking for a new hardshell case. I don't see them offered on Lakland's website, and I found several listings from online music stores for a Lakland case but they are discontinued.

So, any recommendations on a good hardshell case for my 55-02?

My 5594 also fits in my Fender SKB case. I think the model is 1SKB-44PRO. The fit is snugger than in the vintage Fender style case linked above.

My 55-60 also fits in both the SKB and vintage style cases.

My 55-02 ‘lives’ on a Fender HSC, it fits pretty nice.

The Hipshot I got* for my Skyline required getting an additional 5/8" adapter nut to fit properly.

@Jari Kurri - is your hardware Chrome?

*which I returned because Hipshot doesn't make them in the brushed finish.

I've had to do that before as well, but it's not the nut this time. The part of the tuner shaft that inserts in the back won't fit. Lakland advised carefully reaming out the hole to allow it to fit.

I installed a 1/2" HE6. I had emailed Lakland about which one to purchase and they said to get the 1/2", not the 3/8", and they used also said I may need to ream out the hole. I opted to go slowly with some medium grit sandpaper and that did the trick. YMMV, of course.

I'll definitely try that first. Did you wrap the sandpaper around something while sanding?

Great looking bass!
Great picture...."who you gunna call.....Lakland busters!"

LOGger number on the way.

Nothing like a fresh set of DR Hi-Beams! I usually change strings every 6 months. But, I got a little over 7 months on my last set. These strings hold their tone even after excessive gigging in different climates! Love DR’s!
