I'm sure this has been asked before, but is there a known algorithm to the serial numbers, I would like to get information about a recent acquisition. Other than contacting Lakland direct that is.

Lakland experts: I need some help. I recently bought a Hipshot Ultralite extender for my USA Classic 44-64. Per Lakland’s recommendation, I bought the 1/2” model.
I went to install it today, and it doesn’t fit. The smaller part of the shaft fits fine, but it stops when the threaded part has to fit. The headstock hole isn’t big enough.
Do I need the 3/8” model? It’s strange that this one won’t fit despite Lakland specifying that I needed the 1/2”.

that, or you can reem out the hole a bit.

Do not do this unless you have a reamer tool and know what you are doing; do not attempt with just a sharp drill bit. Don't ask how I know this...

Did you purchase a USA Hipshot? There is an Import version of the Ultralite Extenders and they are different in size. Double check!
I added a 1/2" Hipshot extender to my Skyline 44-02 a couple months ago. I had to sand out the headstock hole a tiny bit to get it to fit, which Lakland let me know might be necessary.
This one might take more than sanding. The threaded part of the stem won’t go in at all. It would probably take some extra routing, which I’m not about to attempt on my own.
What do your calipers say re: Hipshot diameter and hole diameter when you measure? JK likely has identified the issue.
A question on hardshell cases. I bought a nice used 55-02 a couple months ago. The bass is in great condition but the case is pretty beat up, so I am looking for a new hardshell case. I don't see them offered on Lakland's website, and I found several listings from online music stores for a Lakland case but they are discontinued.
So, any recommendations on a good hardshell case for my 55-02?

Pricey, sometimes you can find them used on here. But the gold standard for me.

Same question, but for a recently acquired Semihollow, which I posted elsewhere but not here.
The Hipshot I got* for my Skyline required getting an additional 5/8" adapter nut to fit properly.

- The neck pickup is very noisy, there must be something up with the wiring - when I touch it it buzzes loudly
- The pickup screws on the bezel are in the way, am checking to see if they can be counter-sunk
- The pickups seem the same as my Skyline Decade, but sound duller, despite this coming with Roundwounds - I bought this bass with the intention of making it a flatwound bass
- The pickups sit quite high to the strings, I play aggressively and have to make effort to lighten up with this one

My 55-94 is actually in one of these right now. A great loooking case...though it's mostly doing storage duty these days. I generally use a good gig bag for actual transportion in my car.
