Lakland Owners Group #69

Hello all! Looking for some potential pickup recommendations. I haven't used my Skyline 44-60 in a while. It has the standard Lakland pickups and passive V-V-T setup. I haven't been as happy with the overall sound of these as they've always been low output and somewhat harsh sounding at high volume gig levels. Full disclosure, I have tinkered around with setup and pickup height over the years. I was looking through options from Nordstrand and Delano but find myself overwhelmed with choice. I have Nordstrand 70s wound singles in my DJ4 and really do like the openness and clarity of these but not sure I want a duplicate sound in basses. I've considered the Nordy Big Blade J pickups. I've also thought about getting the Delano JMVC Jazz Bass Humbucking Series for some extra pizazz. I'd like to keep this a passive system. Would appreciate any feedback on those that have modified their 44-60 pickups with desired results. Thanks in advance!
I would reach out to Howard Ulyate. Let him know Joseph Jordan recommended him. Given the option, I put (and have put) his pickups in every bass that I can- those I've built and those I've modified. So far, no one has complained. Two Lakland guys know exactly what I'm talking about - @basspraiser and @nautipaul . I've also got Ulyate singles in my only Serek. They're magnificent! If only he made darkstar style pickups!

Would the Nordstarnd Cat pickups work?: CatPups

A question for the Lakland intelligentsia: A potential buyer for Clementine asked for the serial number and I cannot find one, even inside the control cavity?? Is it possible it's only stamped on the butt of the neck?

That would be the only other place I could think of. Does Lakland provide any paperwork with their custom orders? If not, I would like to believe they would still have records in their files somewhere that would provide all of the details needed (that's the optimistic in me saying that but we know how that goes sometimes).
