I also own an HB30 and I can't say enough goods things about it. I'm not a good enough bassist to post a review, but i bet anyone who owns one enjoys it.

My issue with the HB30 are all aesthetics. For some reason they thought it was a good idea to match the design of the Hanson guitars even though those guitars seem to be a pretty large failure. Not sure if they still even make them although the site is still life. Then on top of that its a very competitive style. So many good budget Hofner style basses.
The question is about the HH-30. A sexy looking P/J short-scale. HB-30 is a completely different animal.

Understood. I wasn't addressing the question as I don't have an answer for it. There was additional conversation about the HB-30 and that is what I was responding to.
Is it possible to take an old bride such as yours and trade it in for a USA bridge, like a core exchange that is done with auto parts?
Ha! I should as the saddles are getting pretty rough too. Brian@Lakland has offered to send me some new screws but I'll ask what a US Bridge will run me. My guess is it will cost me close to or more than I paid for the actual bass!

Who do y'all use to cut custom pickguards for your Laklands? Looking to do some tort for a DJ5 and possibly a 44-64.
I just had a couple done with Pickguardian. They came out nicely.
Harkening back to a time Ben Kenney was crushing a skyline HB30 with hang tags still on. Good reminder for me that I don’t need to keep spending money on US lakies when the skylines sound damn good, as does the player.
I'm not looking for a shortie (98% BEAD 4 strings for me of late), but if someone offered me a Lakie 30 incher I'd prefer an HB30 over the HH.

Even when I ordered my first Lakland 55-94 in 1999 it took close to five months receive it. At that time they weren’t building the number of different models they are today. It’s a small shop that turns out quality instruments
So there was a previous discussion here about the weather and its effects on necks. We’ve had a ton of rain here on Long Island the past week and I definitely saw an effect on my 44-02. None on my DJ-4. The 44-02 has an Indian Laurel fretboard and every time I would tune it it was would be sharp. The action got lower and lower until I got some string buzz. A quick loosening of the truss rod fixed it. The DJ-4 with a maple fretboard showed no effects and has been rock steady since I got it. Don’t know if the fretboard makes a difference in not and the know there are other factors in play too. Just wanted to share my experience.
