Question for the Lakland Group.
I have a 1998 44-94 and I want to change the Tuner on the E string to a Hipshot xtender to give me that Drop D.
Is it the BT2 or BT3 model? I'm having a hard time measuring the fit.

His shop is in the Lakland facility. Don’t think he technically works for Lakland. But he obviously still has a deep connection to Lakland somehow.

I think “it’s complicated” would be the way to describe their relationship. Same building, he’s in the basement, they’re on the first floor. The CNC machine is in his space, and before covid, I needed to get a pickup rewound, we went upstairs and into Lakland to look for the Pirruccello brother who does it, so he has free roam of the place He’s also been in pics on their social media, so who knows? It doesn’t seem adversarial, but my wife’s the psychologist

He still does. He worked on my last custom order.

Playability is so good. I love the neck. 34” scale feels great and the B is excellent.

I don’t find a lot of use for the rear (bridge) coil position. Much too nasally and hollow sounding.

Last time I talked to Carl about the matter, he said something like that he still does some repair cases for Lākland and… didn’t he build Julie Slick’s Lākland basses?
