Latex gloves.

Saw this video about James Jamerson and his influence. This Scottish cat doing the video was wearing a latex glove on his fretting hand. So, I thought I'll try this but with both hands...It is AWESOME!!! My question is will latex degrade or deaden strings faster than skin oils? Are they safe for strings and the wood?

Funny this topic came up today. Yesterday I was prepping for a concert I have next week and had a vigorous practice session, 3 hours full bore, picked up my bass this morning and OUCH-A-MUNGA! Oh, they will be fine maybe later today, or by tomorrow at the latest.

I’ve tried gloves in the past and the main problem is on my right hand, being a finger plucker, I end up with a useless interfering wad of glove extending beyond my index and middle finger. On the left I found it was counter productive as gloves take up too much room, not to mention the fingers rubbing into each other creates heat, extra work that made my hand fatigue sooner.

I wear nothing but 100% wool... but only when it's too cold to stand it otherwise.

Devine is less Scottish than I am! I'm English but I live in Scotland. Devine is a Yorkshireman, and to not recognise that would be deeply insulting to him.

I gave this a try, protected from Covid, gloves to smooth the playing and gear to play at the Uranium 214 reactor’s cafeteria during one of our casual-Friday's reunions at the power plant.
The radiation first dissolved the singer’s mic inner wires. We were glad, as he was a terrible singer. Things went south when the guitar player self combusted and started running around, missing some chords and then he approached my amp. That’s a no-no. Nobody touches my stuff.

I saw you in that scene from E.T., The Extraterrestrial. You were convincing.

Yeah probably its probably Scott Devine of SBL. reminds me, an old friend when i was really young, he saw david bowie's lets dance or china girl Video, being a big stevie ray vaughn fan noticed Bowie played guitar with gloves on in one of those videos! so my friend thought he'd try it! He showed up to practice with these work gloves on, saying "it Works!" "it makes you play cleaner!" we all laughed! & said it was a stupid gimmick! he quickly lost the gloves, but stuck to his "it makes you better!" I just thought it was dumb! Never thought about it, again until now!
