Lawsuit P bass

Yeah, because I was expecting to spend quite a bit more tracking down a P, I have some extra cash for tuners and a bridge if need be. I am thinking of throwing a Badass bridge on it just because. Shoot, I might even splurge on a new pickup.

My suggestion? Play it for a while first. If I buy a vintage bass, I do it because I want to play THAT bass the way it came from the factory, not a modded version that I could have built from a Squier or any P-shaped object. Give it a chance with the original hardware and pickup first. Right now it's an unusual instrument...and it may be a nice one.

If it works it works. I have a friend with a Greco P that sounds screaming. I am hoping this one is much the same.

I definitely think you should spend some time with it stock before you go into replacing the pickup. If it needs tuner or bridge hardware, that's another matter.

That 70s MIJ "lawsuit" P-bass I picked up the other day sounds incredible. The guys who worked on it went on and on about the quality of the wiring and electronics. It just needed new strings and a minor setup and a new jack.

I really can't imagine doing anything else to it. It plays and sounds fantastic. It ranks in the Top Ten of any P-bass I've owned or played.
