Here is my new LDS sealed 6x10 cab. I've loved playing my NV610 for years but, have always thought that it could have a much better form factor and sometimes the heavily voiced drivers can make eq'ing alittle tough. This cab is loaded with Fane 10-125 soveriegn drivers which sound great. Imagine the halfway point between an ampeg 810 and nv610 cab. Tighter low end than the ampeg but, bigger and lower than the berg. A small dip around 800hz instead of the big one at 550hz for the ampeg. It extends higher than the berg but, without the big spike at around 3k which, can sound good until you boost the treble, and then get a clack. The berg's tone can sound mid agggressive, which I like, but if you have some top end dialed in and really slap a string, it can take your head off. The LDS, without the spike sounds more compressed and pleasing when playing aggressively. The soveriegn drivers are more gritty when you eq in upper mids than the neo svt drivers I used in the passed. Also, bigger, punchier low end. You never can really tell what a driver is going to sound like until you get multiples loaded into a cab. The soveriegn really works and I've been playing it loud all weekend. The wife has been patient but, her sense of humour is starting to break down. The cab measures, 22" wide, 34" tall (not including wheels and feet) and 15.5" deep. Recessed side and top handles make it much easier to move through doors and up stairs than the berg. The cab weighs exactly 75lbs. I origionally spec'd out tolex covering and chrome hardware but, since I've always went with duratex and black hardware, thats what Don used and it became an "oops" that is acceptable. It also was spec'd to have eminence drivers and Don made some really nice side rails that hugged the speakers and gave a nice cleat for the metal screen to be screwed to but, the Fanes are just alittle larger diameter so, I had to remove the cleats for now and thats why you see the ugly rubber spacers under the grill.

I have been talking to some people about making neo 10" drivers that work in sealed cabs. I decided to finally have this cab built because, I wanted a better form factor, because I wanted a sealed cab to try any neo prototypes that may come along and because I new the Fane's would work as a great backup plan. The only issude with the Fane's is that they can be alittle tough to find in the states. They are easily the best off the shelf drivers I've heard. I don't plan on talking about any new drivers unless they come to fruition so please, don't ask. I DO plan to make some videos with this cab and a few different amps/preamps very soon so, watch this thread for more details.

I dont' think the either the LDS or berg sounds better. They are more the same than different. I think that I slightly prefer the tone of the LDS and definitely prefer to move it. The LDS accepts eq better. The berg may not need as much eq if, thats your sound. It's pretty cool to have TWO awsome sealed 6x10 cabs sitting next to each other. I still have no plans of getting rid of my barefaced supertwin but, I really love my sealed cabs.

About a 3rd. Im really liking the bottom end and punch. The feel and response is truly awsome. It's just a simple, well made, sealed box that most anyone can build. The drivers are what make it really good.
