Unless the drummer has a colonoscopy scheduled the next day, I would not put my rig behind anybody's behind...

... I used to have an Acoustic 300 watt head, with 4 15's in it... two outward facing, top and bottom... then, two ported, facing each other in the middle...

... on a setiing of '5', I could dry clothes with that thing... imagine what it would do to one's O-ring...

If he insists further ask him for 3 to 500 dollars. When he asks why say to buy another cab to tie in to your system to comply with his ridiculous demand. Easentially make him put his money where his mouth is.

Unlike everyone else I have actually seen this. It was a special circumstance where the drummer was the singer and frontman so his kit was front and center. But there was a good distance between the amp and the drummer. I can’t see any other reason to do this. Certainly not an ideal situation.

If there's enough space, it's nice to put ALL of the amps in a semicircle behind the drummer.

I had a band that practiced in a large basement and we set up like that -- it was nice to have all of the sound coming from the same direction; we would all turn and face the drummer (for rehearsals) which meant we were also facing our speakers.

We went so far as to bring a decibel meter and measure the drums, then set amp and PA levels to match that.

Acoustically, it was a tough room (1200 sq ft poured concrete basement with a 10' ceiling) and this was the only way to hear things somewhat clearly.

Hey all, pre-apologies if this is common practice...but my band has our 1st show together on Friday. We were discussing how we will set up on stage and our lead singer tells me that he wants my bass amp completely behind the drummer. At 1st I didn’t pay that much attention to the statement, but then I started thinking about every show I’ve ever been to and how I’ve literally never seen the bass amp directly behind the drummer.

I will see him before the show so I’ll ask him why, but is there any reason whatsoever to put my bass amp directly behind the drummer? We have the lead singer (also plays rhythm guitar), lead guitar, keys, drummer and myself.

Any insight on that would be awesome, thanks in advance!

Hey it's Your amp your choice!!
If he and or the drummer insist,
then you can always Just add another "15" cab to place behind drummer! again, at the end of the night its your amp your choice!
