leave clip-on tuner on while performing?

But I don't.

I don’t leave it on my bass cuz I have a built-in tuner in my amp. When I play mandolin, I leave it clipped to the headstock because mandolins go out of tune much more often than bass. Mandolin is Italian for “out of tune”.

Let’s talk about your amp. Do you like the WD800? I have one and we’re not bonding . I am a tube Ampeg guy my whole life, but I wanted small and light. To me the WD sounds sterile and lifeless. I’ve used on a bunch of gigs and the HPF is so awesome on big stages, but I am not loving my tone. I play rock and country (think Tom Petty, Beatles, Dwight Yoakum, classic country) I like a thumpy old school sound, but I want to be able to have my little moments pop. How do you dial in your amp?

My Hartke LH500 was getting too heavy to cart around, or I'm getting older so I got the Mesa WD800 (not cheap) I wanted to shed the weight so I'm sold the 12's and got a Subway 15 for more low end(also not cheap) in December and have yet to gig with it. I play in a 7 piece loud band and am trying to keep up with them. (The lead has two Marshall amps). I've played the Mesa at various rehearsal studios thru different speakers, a Hartke 810 and it was awesome, then a 15 whatever in another studio and it was nice. I know what you mean about bonding, I tried my 1st class D Hartke TX600 and hated it, sold it immediately. The Mesa has been good to me to the point I sold my Hartke LH500. Now it's my only amp and I feel comfortable with it. Here is a picture of how I keep the controls.

I have a little tiny clip on that hides in the peg head box of my upright. It's always there. No one can see it from a short distance. It sure comes in handy. On electric I supposed I'd use one in the line.
